A Cultural and Academic Preparation Program for new students
New international students have an opportunity to get an early start on settling into their new home away from home in the United States and at SCAD through International CAPP, a four-week pre-orientation summer program. International CAPP offers instruction in English as a second language, as well as themed coursework providing an introduction to life in the United States, Savannah and especially SCAD.
At the end of the program, international students are well prepared for the ESL placement test, which is administered during fall orientation. Students also become familiar with SCAD and the surrounding communities before their classes begin, allowing them to adjust more easily and focus fully on beginning their academic and artistic journey toward a creative career.
The month-long CAPP program begins Aug. 1 in Savannah and covers everything from opening a bank account to bicycle laws.
From historic coastal cities to a vibrant metropolis and gorge carved by the Ocoee River, participants witness the Southeast's abundant cultural diversity.
Participants in the program are housed in The Hive, a residence hall conveniently located near the university's transit hub and largest dining facility—providing a representative SCAD student experience.
