- About SCAD
SERVE exists to educate and foster social responsibility and to provide students with an opportunity to serve the Savannah community through volunteer positions. SERVE promotes community service as a link between the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Savannah community while promoting student leadership through the opportunity to be a service coordinator.
Service coordinators are an integral part of the SERVE program. These ambitious students are hired to fill paid positions in one of SERVE' programs for the academic year. They are responsible for coordinating projects, recruiting volunteers and working as on-site leaders at service projects, coordinating more than 6,000 volunteer hours during the year. SERVE programs included working with Habitat for Humanity, the local humane society, soup kitchens, reading to children and the SCAD recycling program.
