Atlanta international student orientation (Fall 2014)

Monday, Sept. 8 – Tuesday, Sept. 9

SCAD Atlanta residence halls ACA and Spring House open for early move-in for new international students. Email ISSO at issoatl@scad.edu to notify of early move-in.

Wednesday, Sept. 10

9:30-10 a.m.
Language Studio (ESL) testing check-in

Front lobby, second floor
Required unless exempted as noted in your SCAD acceptance packet. For more information about Language Studio exemption policies, visit the Language Studio page and review the Assessment section.
To check in, students must bring their passport, I-20, I-94 card, visa and U.S. social security card (if you have one).

10 a.m. to noon
Language Studio placement test

SCAD Computer login assistance (optional)

Banking in the U.S.A., presented by Wells Fargo Bank (optional)

California Room
Students learn valuable information about banking practices, routine services, international wire transfers, identity theft and more. Students may securely open a U.S. bank account on site with their personal funds and apply for debit cards. Refreshments are provided.

5-7 p.m.
Shopping trip to Target at Atlantic Station (optional)

Shuttle will pick up students in front of the SCAD Atlanta bookstore. International students who have arrived early can purchase needed supplies for their dorm rooms, such as towels and sheets or toiletries and furniture. To sign up, email issoatl@scad.edu.

International Student Orientation Session I

Orientation is required to review SEVIS compliance, international health insurance, work authorization, banking and other important topics. Both Session I and Session II are mandatory.

Required for students who took the Language Studio ESL placement test.

5:30-7 p.m.
Shopping trip to Atlantic Station (optional)

Shuttle will pick up students in front of the SCAD Atlanta bookstore.
Exploration on foot of Atlantic Station, a shopping center that includes Target, Publix and many other shops, restaurants and attractions.

7 p.m.
Shuttle returns to SCAD Atlanta, with drop-offs at ACA House and Spring House. Students may also walk back (walk is about 20 minutes) or take the free Atlantic Station Shuttle to the Arts Center MARTA stop.

International students follow Freshman General Orientation schedule.

Saturday, Sept. 13

International students follow Graduate and Transfer General Orientation schedule.
