Game industry's stars converge at SCAD

Recognition

Professor Brenda Brathwaite honored for game
Interactive design and game development chair Brenda Brathwaite recently won the Vanguard Award for her game "Train" at IndieCade, an international festival for independent gamemakers. Brathwaite and her work were recognized for "pushing the boundaries of game design, and showing what games can do."
SCAD receives iDMAa Innovative Program Award
The International Digital Media Art Association presented SCAD with the 2009 Innovative Program Award in recognition of our leadership and excellence in digital media.
Tseng wins second at SIGGRAPH
Non-degree student Wei-Chieh Tseng won second place in the physical installation category of the "SpaceTime" student competition and exhibition at SIGGRAPH. He created his piece, "Color Plant," under the guidance of interactive design and game development professor Andrew Hieronymi.
The Art History of Games is Gamasutra feature
Gamasutra's SIGGRAPH wrap-up included coverage of "The Art History of Games," a panel discussion led by Peter Weishar, dean of the SCAD School of Film, Digital Media and Performing Arts, and John Sharp, an interactive design and game development professor in Atlanta. The session introduced a topic that will be the subject of a SCAD symposium event in February 2010.
