Parent and Family Weekend

Parentsparent

SCAD Parent and Family Weekend 2013 kicks off Friday, April 26, in Savannah, Georgia, with an open house in select academic buildings, followed by a barbecue and Films in Forsyth.

The highlight of the weekend comes on Saturday with the 32nd annual Sidewalk Arts Festival, an signature chalk-art competition for the SCAD community. Students, alumni and prospective create chalk masterpieces on the sidewalks of Forsyth Park.

Prior to the Sidewalk Arts Festival, deans will offer an informative panel discussion, and an art demonstration and other exciting activities will coincide with the festival in Forsyth Park. Food and drink will be available from local restaurant vendors, and Parent and Family Weekend attendees will receive an exclusive SCAD gift.

The SCAD Museum of Art will offer SCAD Parent and Family Weekend guests discounted admission Sunday, April 28.

The cost for the weekend is $20 per person, so gather your family and invite your SCAD student to join you. Invitations will arrive in your mailbox soon, but you are welcome to send an email if you have questions.

When securing accommodations, keep in mind that most historic district hotels, such as Mansion on Forsyth Park, Andaz, Hampton Inn and Suites, The Marshall House, and Staybridge Suites, may offer a special SCAD friends and family rate, so be sure to ask. We look forward to seeing you in April.

Note: If your student will be attending the barbecue on Friday with you, they too will need a ticket. Student tickets are $5 and can be purchased with the parent/family member tickets.
