SCAD Parents and Family Weekend 2012 will take place April 27-28 in conjunction with the Sidewalk Arts Festival. The weekend kicks off Friday with Films in Forsyth followed by a fun-filled Saturday including an open house in select academic buildings, an informative panel discussion by deans and alumni, lunch, weekend discounts, exclusive SCAD gift, and other exciting activities. The cost for the entire weekend is $20 per person, so gather your family and invite your SCAD student to join you!

Saturday, April 28

9-9:30 a.m.
Parents and Family Weekend packet pickup and breakfast

Deans and Alumni Panel Discussion: "Fuel the Future"

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Open-house tours of various academic buildings:
  • Pepe Hall, 212 W. Taylor St.
  • Montgomery Hall, 3515 Montgomery St.
  • Gulfstream Center, 3116 Montgomery St.
  • Alexander Hall, 668 Indian St.
Shuttles will be provided, but parents are welcome to drive their own cars.

11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Lunch will be available from various restaurant stations at Sidewalk Arts Festival. Seating will be available in the Parents and Family Weekend tent, located south of Forsyth Park Café. The Student meal plan is not valid with Sidewalk Arts Festival restaurants. Parents may add a meal ticket for their current SCAD student or child (12 and under) for $5 during registration.

31st annual SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival
Enjoy festival activities and chalk masterpieces in Forsyth Park. Sidewalk competition winners will be announced at 4 p.m.

1-4 p.m.
Art and design demonstrations

6-8 p.m.
Silver & Ink Photography Reception

Sunday, April 29

Noon to 5 p.m.
Discounted admission to tour the newly reopened
SCAD Museum of Art, 601 Turner Blvd.
A special rate of $5 will be granted to guests with a Parents and Family Weekend name badge (Sunday only).

All Parents and Family Weekend events are free to your enrolled SCAD student.

Stop by Gallery See before Open Studio Night to meet your students peers and the rest of the SCAD Atlanta community.

More than 200 original works of art by SCAD students, faculty and alumni are on display. This amazing event showcases the best in SCAD painting, photography, illustration, print making and sculpture. The event features live entertainment, hands-on demonstrations and light refreshments. All work exhibited is available for sale. Open Studio Night is open to the public, with complimentary on-site parking provided.

Saturday, Nov. 5

SCAD Atlanta Building Tour
9:30-10:30 a.m.

Customized tours for parents and alumni will be offered and led by current SCAD Atlanta students. Guided tours will also be available through the admission office Friday, Nov. 4, 11 a.m. To sign up for Friday tours call 877.722.3285.

Academics and Athletics Conversation and Breakfast
10:30 a.m. to noon
Gallery 1600, Second Floor, Building A, 1600 Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, Georgia
Come and enjoy a panel discussion about academics and athletics at SCAD. The panel will include former SCAD athletes, academic and athletic administrators, and a special guest moderator. SCAD Atlanta is now in its second year of intercollegiate athletic competition. Find out why SCAD's student-artists-athletes are so phenomenal.
