After that I hoped to teach art history at the college level. My husband's job has taken our family from North Carolina to Tennessee, to Texas (three times) and back to Tennessee, again. We have lived in the Memphis area since 1999, with the exception of one year when we briefly lived in Texas. In 2005 I was given the opportunity to teach fourth grade at Westminster Academy, a classical school in Memphis. When our longtime upper school art teacher resigned and moved out of state, he recommended me to be his replacement, and now I have the pleasure of beginning each day teaching high school seniors art history every Monday and studio art during the rest of the week; I teach grades 7-10 once a week. When I was in school at SCAD I had a completely different plan mapped out for myself that included living in New York and writing childrens' books in addition to teaching, but I couldn't be happier with the way my life has turned out. My education at SCAD was invaluable and I find myself referring back on a daily basis to things that I learned from professors such as Roland Wolfe and Steven Myers, and I am now able to share the wisdom and skills that I gleaned from their expertise with my own students. The most exciting thing for me, though, is that one of the seniors I teach this year is planning on going to SCAD when she graduates in May, and hopes to major in fiber arts!" (updated 09/19/08)
