Tyler Akers (B.F.A., art history, 2012) will attend the M.F.A. program in art criticism and writing at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Professors Alexandria Pierce and Susan Falls mentored Akers during the completion of his studies in new media and his thesis, "The Transurban Condition: An Examination of the Political Works of Hussein Chalayan and Lucy Orta." Ryan Babula, Ian Bostick, Ryan Fernandez and Jonathan Waldrop all graduated from SCAD in 2012 with Master of Arts degrees in cinema studies. The foursome developed The Air Got To It, a website dedicated to writing, reviewing and commentating on all things related to film, music, TV, sports, literature, gaming and overall cultural phenomena. Heather (Byrd) Achter (M.F.A., performing arts, 2012) married Andrew Achter in June 2012 and was hired as adjunct professor of theatre at Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte, North Carolina. She will be teaching Introduction to Theatre and helping promote the program to potential students. (updated 08/15/12)

Andrea Champagne (B.F.A., animation, 2008; M.A., animation, 2012) wrote, "After graduating in May 2012 , I moved to Florida. While in Florida, my goal was to find a career in my field to expand my knowledge and get better at what i do. In August, after a few months of struggling to make ends meet, an opportunity finally came along. I applied for a full-time teaching position at G-Star School of the Arts, an arts high school in West Palm Beach, Florida. I researched the school and was impressed by the way the students were involved with digital media productions and were linked to the company Digital Domain. So far, my experience at this school is everything i always wanted, including the trial and error that help to make me a better teacher. Jamie Deaver (B.F.A., photography, 2012) lives in Eldersburg, Maryland, and is an intern for the National Portrait Gallery's photography department in Washington, D.C.. Deaver had a photograph chosen as a final selection in the Photographer's Forum Magazine's 2012 Best of Photography contest, and will be published in their book which is being released in December 2012. Terrence Fradet (B.F.A., graphic design, 2012) earned an Applied Arts Student Design-Series award for the visualization of current research completed by Geoffrey S. Taylor, D.Des., M.Arch. Fradet created a series of images to graphically document the production of a seventeenth-century Venetian printed book and visually communicate the complex narrative of the printer's workshop uncovered by Taylor. "Unseen-Unread: The Backstory of a Vignola" is a forthcoming publication that will feature Fradet's award-winning designs. (updated 07/26/12)

James Parker (M.F.A., film and television, 2012) is executive producer at The Noir Movie LLC in Savannah, Georgia. The company recently received funding of $6.5 million to produce and distribute "Noir: The Good Girl, The Detective and The Femme Fatale."  Production begins April 1, 2013, with a 500 theater national release date of November 28, 2013.
