Illustration Design

The M.A. in illustration design at SCAD is a bridge between the graphic design and illustration professions. Students are taught to explore concepts, aesthetics, techniques, materials, typography, design and professional practice. The final project of M.A. students combines these skills and creates a product that exemplifies the interconnectedness of graphic design and illustration.

Combining professions

Illustration design is designed to enhance the creative processes between graphic design and illustration. Through a carefully chosen set of illustration and graphic design courses, M.A. illustration design students are taught strategy and business in addition to history, drawing and design methodologies.

Ilustration design is offered in Atlanta, Savannah and online via eLearning.

Marketable work

Throughout their time at SCAD, students are creating a consistent body of work to enhance their portfolio, which helps in the pursuit of a career in their field. Near the end of the program, students are taught about markets and how to present their work to prospective employers.

With a portfolio of work that exemplifies the mental and physical adtroitness required to conceive of and create a concept to a finished product, illustration designers have the flexibility needed to pursue a wide range of professional careers.
