Why did SCAD open a location in Hong Kong?
After significant research, SCAD determined that Asia, and Hong Kong in particular, is an ideal SCAD location for several important reasons:
  • SCAD's popularity among students from Asia has grown significantly over the last few years.
  • SCAD offers a more comprehensive array of specialized digital media degree programs than are currently being offered in Hong Kong.
  • SCAD already has well-established relationships in Hong Kong, including a growing network of students, alumni, professors and donors.
  • SCAD already has relationships with an increasing number of major organizations in Hong Kong that recruit talented SCAD graduates for internships and full-time positions.
Where is SCAD Hong Kong located?
SCAD Hong Kong is located at the historic North Kowloon Magistracy Building, 292 Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po.
When did SCAD Hong Kong open?
SCAD Hong Kong opened in September 2010.
Who leads SCAD Hong Kong?
Paula Wallace serves as president of SCAD, and this includes all SCAD locations. Professors and staff for Hong Kong are hired through the SCAD human resources department. View current openings online.
What degrees are offered?
SCAD offers bachelor's and master's degrees in Hong Kong. As is customary at U.S. universities, SCAD Hong Kong bachelor's degrees offer four years of instruction, including a core curriculum in fine art foundation studies and general education, before progressing into the major program of study. Master's degrees require advanced knowledge and specialized study that may include field or teaching internships and thesis projects, papers or exhibitions.
What are the admission requirements?

What programs of study are offered?
The following degree programs are registered with the Hong Kong Education Bureau to be offered at SCAD Hong Kong.

Courses of study are registered with the Hong Kong Education Bureau, registration numbers: 261958-261971. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognize any qualification to which these courses may lead.

How much is tuition at SCAD Hong Kong?
Tuition for classes is the same for all SCAD locations. Students at SCAD have the option to pay fees in U.S. dollars or Hong Kong dollars.
Are internship opportunities available to students in Hong Kong?
Yes. SCAD career services staff identify employers and internship opportunities throughout the world.
Are SCAD staff and professors eligible to work at SCAD Hong Kong?
Yes, current SCAD professors and staff members are eligible to apply for any appropriate openings. Prospective professors and staff members can view open positions and apply online.
Are current SCAD students eligible to take classes in Hong Kong?
Yes, students in good standing can enroll for one or more quarters at another SCAD location. Current students should consult their student success advisers to explore this option and do not need to submit new applications for admission.
Do credits earned at SCAD Hong Kong also satisfy degree requirements at another SCAD location?
Yes. Credit for all SCAD courses taken at any SCAD location is applied to degree programs, as outlined in the course catalog. Students should consult their student success advisers before registering to be sure the courses are applicable to their programs of study.
Is SCAD considering any other locations?
Although SCAD is always open to new opportunities that benefit students, the university is committed to focusing resources and energy on Savannah, Atlanta, eLearning, Lacoste and Hong Kong locations.
What do I do if I’m interested in applying to SCAD as a prospective student?

Are scholarships and U.S. federal aid available to students who attend SCAD Hong Kong?
Yes. Scholarships are available to both United States citizens and non-U.S. citizens and are awarded to entering students prior to first-quarter attendance. Visit scad.edu/scholarships to learn more.

U.S. citizens and eligible non-U.S. citizens may receive federal and state aid and alternative loans while studying at SCAD Hong Kong. For Hong Kong citizens and other qualifying students residing in Hong Kong, the Student Financial Assistance Agency of Hong Kong offers certain types of financial aid. Students are eligible to apply for loans under the Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (NLS) and apply for the Student Travel Subsidy Scheme. Eligibility requirements and application procedures are available through the Student Financial Assistance Agency of Hong Kong. Visit scad.edu/financialaid to learn more.
