Silver Screen Foundation Student Screenwriting Grant The Silver Screen Foundation offers an annual $4,000 grant to a SCAD student filmmaker to promote the practical, real-world process of commercial film production to student filmmakers. Students are asked to develop and pitch a concept for a feature film based on a low-budget, feature length, "crime drama" set in Savannah. Judges will award $1,000 to the student with the best entry, and the winner will be announced at the 2008 Savannah Film Festival, Oct. 25-Nov. 1. The winning student has until May 1, 2009, to write the screenplay based on their treatment with assistance from industry professionals. When completed, the student will present his or her screenplay to the Silver Screen Foundation Advisory Board. Upon acceptance, the student will be awarded another $1,500. Finally, the screenplay will be produced at a table reading by the student and actors reading the roles aloud and presented as an official event at the 2009 Savannah Film Festival. The student will then receive the final $1,500 at the end of the winning selection's table reading. Deliver the application and treatment to the Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St., no later than Oct. 15, 2008, in a sealed envelope addressed to Silver Screen Foundation, Attn: Dean Ayers. Download the application form. Silver Screen Foundation Short Film Grant The Silver Screen Foundation offers a $1,000 grant for the best short film submitted by a SCAD student and accepted by the Savannah Film Festival. All short films entered by SCAD students in the film festival will be screened by the members of the Silver Screen Foundation, and one winner will be chosen by popular vote. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash grant and will be introduced on stage at a Savannah Film Festival event. No special procedures are required to enter a film in the Silver Screen Foundation Short Film Grant competition. All short films submitted by a SCAD student to the 2008 Savannah Film Festival and accepted for competition will be considered. |
