Rules and Regulations

Dates
The Savannah Film Festival takes place Oct. 29-Nov. 5

Categories
A category for competition must be selected by the filmmaker and indicated on the entry form. If no category is selected, the work is reviewed for screening only at the festival. All student entries are considered for the student competition.

Animation
Narrative feature
Documentary feature
Narrative short
Documentary short
Student

Winners are selected by the judges from all competitive films and videos in the festival. Professional and student works are judged separately.

Fees
An entry fee of $40 must accompany each entry form. The entry fee for students is $20. The entry fee is waived for SCAD alumni and entrants with a SCAD ID.

Eligibility
Feature films and videos must be no less than 40 minutes in length. Short works must not exceed 40 minutes. Running time is calculated by timing the head frame to the last frame of the ending credits.
All entries must be submitted for preview on 1/2" VHS, S-VHS NTSC or DVD format.
All entries must either be in English or subtitled in English.
Submissions must be postmarked by July 1, 2005.
Appropriate entry fee ($20 or $40) must be included. Make check payable to the Savannah College of Art and Design or charge by phone at 912.525.5051.
Entry forms may be photocopied.
All entries must be sent in prepaid and packed containers.
Entries must include a complete list of cast, credits and a self-addressed stamped postcard in order to confirm receipt.
Each entry must include a three- to four-sentence synopsis of the work. The synopsis should be a clear and concise description of the plot and/or premise of the submission and may not exceed 100 words.
Two production stills must be provided. The synopsis and stills may be used in the festival program and made available to the media.
Any press materials (i.e., press kits, press releases, additional images, etc.) must be submitted to the festival office at the time of acceptance.
Submitted videos and materials will not be returned.
The Savannah Film Festival and the Savannah College of Art and Design do not assume liability for damage to entries due to mishandling or poor packaging during shipping.
Notification of selected entries will be completed by September 15, 2005.
Film and video presentations are scheduled at the discretion of the Savannah Film Festival and are subject to change.
Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Regardless of original format, videos must be available in 1/2" VHS, S-VHS NTSC, Beta SP NTSC or DVD format for festival presentation.
Submit a separate form for each entry.

Judging
A screening committee views all works. Films and videos chosen for entry into festival competition are judged by a panel of judges. Awards are presented at the discretion of the judges, and a committee selected by the director of the Savannah Film Festival makes any necessary rulings.
