Marie Aja-Herrerra

Marie Aja-Herrera has more than 20 years of experience as a fashion designer, writer, creative director and instructor. Prior to joining SCAD, she worked for Costume National, Byblos, Pierre Cardin, NIKE, Adolfo Dominguez and Purificacion Garcia, Jacques Vert plc and Jefferson International Inc. in Hong Kong. She also had her own label, catering primarily to the European market. In addition, she has served as a dean and chair of fashion programs. She continues her design work, writes articles for various magazines, and serves as undergraduate and graduate adviser for fashion students at SCAD. Aja-Herrera recently received an honorary doctorate from New York University - The Yorker International Institute for her work in design and design education.

John Bauernfeind

John Bauernfeind has worked with brands such as Calvin Klein, Pollini, BCBG/PVH and London Fog. His experience ranges from menswear to womenswear and from apparel categories of mass market to luxury design. He also has illustrated for established design houses such as Coach, Avirex and Vanderbilt. In addition to teaching, he serves as the graduate coordinator and the competitions chair for the SCAD fashion department.

Sarah Collins is interested in the social and psychological aspects of fashion. She taught the first fashion classes at SCAD-Atlanta in Fall 2005.

Sabrina Gardner
Savannah

Sabrina Gardner has worked as a designer in New York with Blassport, as well as for Liz Claiborne, where she specialized in knitwear lines. Her couture work has been exhibited in Savannah, Hilton Head, Atlanta and London. Since 1996, she has served as a faculty member in the fashion department at SCAD, where she teaches a wide variety of classes. In addition, she has led student groups on off-campus programs to London and Paris. Gardner regularly accepts commissions to construct garments and to make one-of-a-kind quilts for clients.

Filis Hagi-Zaid

Filis Hagi-Zaid is a Fulbright alumna and is the fashion graduate coordinator at SCAD-Atlanta. She created trend collections and catalogs as a trend designer/stylist for IMOD in Bucharest, Romania, as well as created theater costumes and freelanced as a fashion writer and illustrator for several Romanian fashion and textiles magazines. She also was a freelance RTW, leather and fur designer for several European fashion companies. In the U.S. she designed for tween brands Limited Too and May Merchandising Company. She has participated in exhibitions and fashion shows in her native Romania as well as in Europe and the U.S.

Shana Hall

Shana Hall is a graduate of the accessories design program at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Her experience in the fashion industry includes working for the Mohair Council of America, Ellen Tracy and Evan Picone Hosiery, and Patch NYC. Hall also holds a degree in fine arts with a concentration in sculpture and a minor in psychology from Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey.

Carol Harris

Carol Harris worked in the fashion industry for 15 years as a designer and technical designer, before joining the fashion department at SCAD in 1999. For the past three years, she has been working on her Ph.D. at Manchester Metropolitan University. For her thesis, “The Evolution of the Clothing Industry,” she is investigating the effects of the global shift on the American and British clothing industries. Harris also is the assessment coordinator for the fashion department.

Jacqueline Keuler has extensive experience as a draper and patternmaker and has worked for top 7th Avenue design houses, including Maggie Norris Couture, Randolph Duke Eveningwear and Carolina Herrera Bridal. She also has designed under her own label for the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut markets. She served as the fashion design program director at Syracuse University and a fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York.

Christopher McDonnell

Christopher McDonnell has owned successful retail outlets in London, Tokyo, Osaka and Sydney, with wholesale ranges distributed to stores in 24 countries. He represented the United Kingdom in the Best of Britain pageant, served as head of design and product development at Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy’s in New York, and held positions as creative director at Alfred Dunhill International and Paul Stuart Inc., New York. He has lectured at the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martin’s in London and was a guest speaker at National Heritage in the U.K.

Anthony Scott Miller
Savannah

After graduating from Otis in 1989, Anthony Miller was hired by the chair of the college's fashion department, Rosemary Brantley, as an assistant designer. He then worked for leading high-end retailer Ecru, where he developed the first of two wholesale lines, ecru prêt and Tag Rag. He lived and worked in Milan, Italy, as a designer for such companies as Pancaldi & B, Armani, Brunello Cucinello and Lara Biagotti International, and was promoted to corporate design director to manage product development from concept to production. Miller was requested to design a bustier for Thierry Mugler for a charity event. He joined SCAD in September 2003 and is chair of the fashion department

Evelyn Pappas
Savannah

Evelyn Pappas’ professional work experience has spanned 30 years in the bridal industry. She served as supervisor of training at Pietrafesa Inc. in Liverpool, N.Y., and a manufacturer of high-end men’s and women’s tailored garments for clients such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers and Nordstrom. Pappas has spent many years sharing these industrial experiences with fashion students at Syracuse University and SCAD. Her areas of expertise in the classroom include the aesthetics of fine clothing and the technical skills of advanced garment construction, tailoring, draping and patternmaking.

Tricia Quackenbush

Tricia Quackenbush has more than 10 years of industry experience and has been a professor in the fashion department at SCAD for two years. She teaches fashion design with an emphasis on technical design. Her work experience includes all aspects of the merchandising and management fields of the fashion industry, as well as buying and developing displays. Quackenbush has also held assistant design and patternmaking positions. She has been sewing for more than 35 years, specializing in innovative pattern development, perfection of fit and sophisticated fabric usage.

Doris Treptow

Doris Treptow held several positions in the Brazilian apparel industry starting in 1991. She has had a variety of work experience, serving as a senior designer at Tifa Casual Wear, a designer at Buettner S.A. and a fashion coordinator at Havan. She started her own consulting office, where she provided trend forecasting and product development for apparel manufacturers. Her teaching experience started in 1996 and includes community colleges, art colleges and universities in Brazil.
