The photography department, located on the fifth floor of SCAD Atlanta, allows students to explore camera vision, equipment and technique, black-and-white, color and alternative processes, the use of natural and artificial light and the photographic applications of digital technology. Students are taught to take and develop photographs of a variety of subjects with a variety of cameras and other photographic equipment. The photography program focuses on historical and aesthetic concerns, strong technical skills, and experience with conventional and digital photography.

The print lab features normal and large-format inkjet printers and the latest computers for professional-quality printing.

The darkroom allows for traditional film processing in black-and-white and color.

Students at SCAD learn the techniques that form the foundation of their profession in state-of-the-art facilities.

SCAD Atlanta has plenty of studio space for students to conduct full-scale photo shoots.

Photography students can check out lights, cameras and other equipment to use from the department.

SCAD Atlanta is located in midtown Atlanta, which offers a diverse music scene and numerous theaters, galleries and museums.
