Trustees Theater opened in 1946 as a part of Savannah's grand theater district. The 28,296 square-foot theater was designed by Howell and Tucker as Weis Theater (pronounced Wise after the family the built it). After purchase and restoration by the Savannah College of Art and Design some 50 years later, the Trustees Theater continues to dazzle patrons with its blend of materials, textures and geometric angles.

The theater operates year-round as a large venue for the performing arts department, in addition to hosting lectures, live performances, concerts and films.

Trustees Theater hosts performances in theater, dance and music; lectures; major college events; student productions; the spring fashion show; the annual Savannah Film Festival; film and animation screenings; conferences; national and international touring performers and other special productions.

The Trustees Theater seats 1,100 people, is equipped with assisted listening devices and accommodates wheelchair seating.

An essential part of SCAD, the Trustees Theater hosts hundreds of events and performances each year.
