Born in a small town off the Georgia coast, Leigh's earliest memories are of painting, drawing and making up songs about the marsh. The love of creating has been a constant in her life. An early education in Jacksonville, FL paved the way to an eventual degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Inspired by travels to Germany, Italy and Spain, a love of art history ensued. From this, a deeper appreciation for all art media was born. In 1995, Leigh began teaching art to children. She quickly realized that children had an advantage - and a gift - that adults had long forsaken...they still believed in their own creativity. Her work is inspired by her family, her environment, and spiritual symbolism. There is always more than meets the eye in her work. Leigh Carpenter Ferguson is a mother of four, a wife, a teacher and in the depth of her soul, an artist.
