Carolyn Neely

Carolyn Neely is fascinated with the power of objects to contain memory.  She grew up in a military family whose yearly moving vans held a familiar store of well-loved objects.  In her studio, objects such as dolls, clothes, handkerchiefs and figurines have taken on a life of their own, and speak a compelling language.  The objects that Neely paints become metaphors for her own personal history.  Her intention is to find the human spirit infused in the objects, and to evoke a sense of poignancy, isolation and unfinished agendas.  Neely obtained her M.F.A. from SCAD and currently resides in Savannah where she owns the Remshart Row Gallery and gives private studio instruction.
