Your visit to Savannah will be unforgettable. It's distinctive squares, cobblestone streets and architecture reflect its history as the capital of one of the original 13 American colonies. The city's location offers easy access to tidal freshwater wetlands, bottomland hardwood forests, mud flats, maritime forests, salt marshes, sandy beaches and the wildlife these habitats support.
The 2012 GNSI conference logo features two members of the Savannah wildlife family, a dolphin named Tybee and a tree frog named Yuchee. Tybee means salt in Yuchee Indian. The Yuchee Indians inhabited the Savannah area and refined the salt from the sea for trade. Dolphins inhabit the Savannah marshes as well as the ocean, while the nocturnal tree frogs sing in chorus along the edges of waterways.
Ken Bruzenak, who received an M.A. in illustration design from SCAD, designed the 2012 GNSI logo. Bruzenak won three Harvey Awards and a Wizard Award for his lettering work. He designed logos for Wonder Woman, American Flagg, Mr. Monster and The Shadow, among many others. In addition, Ken worked as editor, production manager and writer for Preview Magazine, as well as art director for College Parent Magazine.
