2011-2012 Commencement
SCAD holds commencement ceremonies in both Savannah and Atlanta each spring. SCAD eLearning graduates may participate in the ceremony at either location. Every year, a distinguished guest shares his or her insights and wisdom with new alumni; speakers in recent years include Whoopi Goldberg, Glenn Close, Vogue editor-at-large André Leon Talley, Metropolitan Museum of Art Director Philippe de Montebello, playwright Edward Albee and movie critic Joel Siegel.


	Share your commencement experience Document your days leading up to Commencement 2012 on Twitter and Instagram. Wrapping up projects? We want to see and hear about it. Picking the family up at the airport? Shoot a pic. And, of course, we want to see your photos from the big day, June 2. Share it all with us by using the #SCAD2012 hashtag.

A webcast will be available during the commencement ceremonies. To view the webcast, visit scad.edu/graduation, which will direct to the correct location on the day of the event.

The 2011-2012 commencement ceremonies will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012. If you're a student who will complete all your degree requirements between Fall 2011 and Summer 2012 and you submit an application to graduate, you are eligible to participate in the ceremony. Schedule and location information

Savannah
Savannah Civic Center, Martin Luther King Jr. Arena

8 a.m.: Doors open for presidential conferment of degrees ceremony
9-10:30 a.m.: Presidential conferment of degrees
Noon: Doors open for presentation of degrees ceremony one
1-3 p.m.: School of Communication Arts, School of Design, School of Fashion, School of Fine Arts
3:30 p.m.: Doors open for presentation of degrees ceremony two
4-6 p.m.: School of Building Arts, School of Film, Digital Media and Performing Arts, School of Liberal Arts

Due to limited seating in the Savannah Civic Center arena, we are able to offer only four tickets to each graduate for the presidential conferment of degrees ceremony and six tickets to the presentation of degrees ceremony. Tickets are required.

Recognition

Lynda.com hires Grant Hanlon
Upon completing a two-month contract with Lynda.com as a graphics editor, Grant Hanlon (B.F.A., broadcast design and motion graphics, 2011) accepted a position as graphics delivery coordinator with the company.
Pi Design hires Wan Maria Elena Wan Zamri
Wan Maria Elena Wan Zamri (B.F.A., graphic design, 2010) is a graphic designer at Pi Design in Camarillo, California.
Thompson has exhibition at Nuance Gallery
Deanna Meadow Thompson (B.F.A., photography, 2011) lives in Cornish, New Hampshire, and has an exhibition at Nuance Gallery in Windsor, Vermont, through June 16. She is also doing photography for the Green Mountain Railroad in White River, Vermont.
Art Institute of Charleston hires Brown
Brandon Brown (M.F.A., sound design, 2010) recently became a full-time graphic design professor with an emphasis in Web and interactive media at the Art Institute of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition to teaching, he continues to work as a freelance sound editor and web designer.
