Jessica Rankin exhibition: "Passages"
Feb. 18 – May. 31, 2013
Trois Gallery | SCAD Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, Ga.
"Passages" features a selection of embroidery paintings and large-scale drawings on paper by artist Jessica Rankin. For Rankin's first solo show in the Southeast, this exhibition presents conceptually driven "mental maps" that include imagery of charts and diagrams, pathways and landscapes, poetic text and coded language, that form organic compositions that are influenced by her personal experience and daily life. These sheer, diaphanous panels reverberate off the wall and represent the temporality of existence, memory and intuition as well as what the artist refers to as the "embodiment of thought."
