Steve McCurry Exhibition: "The Unguarded Moment"
Aug. 27 – Sep. 28, 2012
Gallery See | SCAD Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, Ga.
The SCAD exhibitions department presents "The Unguarded Moment," a selection of photographs by photojournalist Steve McCurry. McCurry is well known for his compelling portraits and landscapes from all over the globe and particularly for his work in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. His photograph "Afghan Girl," that originally appeared on the cover of National Geographic magazine, has become one of the most recognized images in the world.
"Most of my images are grounded in people. I look for the unguarded moment, the essential soul peeking out, experience etched on a person's face," McCurry said.
SCAD will exhibit "Afghan Girl" along with a selection of exceptional color photographs drawn from his travels over the past 20 years.
Gallery hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
