Bongsang Cho Exhibition: "Life"
Jan. 12 – Jan. 26, 2012
Fahm Hall Gallery | 9 N. Fahm St., Savannah, Ga.
The SCAD exhibitions department presents "Life," an exhibition by M.F.A. metals and jewelry student Bongsang Cho. Life is sometimes beautiful, tragic, or poignant and all organisms on Earth play a part in these experiences. Advances in civilization have allowed human beings to become more in touch with the inner beauty of life within our Earthly environments and flowers are familiar symbols of those moments.
The common purpose that each organism shares in the life cycle creates unique juxtapositions, and perhaps none more so than between the beauty of blooming flower and the intricacy (complexity) of human life. The principles of nature and life are invisible, but their existence can be expressed through metaphor and personification that creates a link connecting one to another. This body of work is presented as both objects and installations and is a poetic exploration through symbol and metaphor reflecting on the relationships of nature, our post-modern society and the symbolic transformational beauty of life on Earth.
