Wenjin Zhou: "Metamorphosis," Audiovisual Video Installation
Sep. 19 – Oct. 03, 2011
Hall Street Gallery | 212 W. Hall St., Savannah, Ga.
The SCAD exhibitions department presents "Metamorphosis," a solo thesis exhibition featuring interactive video installation by M.F.A. interactive design and game development student Wenjin Zhou. The work is a continuation of her artistic research into the relational interaction between physical space and digital process. It aims to explore the interface between the organic subject matter of the landscape and the cinematic mechanism. In this work, the viewer's own movements in the gallery space assemble the "film." The participant plays a fluid role in constructing the configuration of the visual, acoustic and textural elements, thereby constantly generating unexpected multimedia collages. Inspired by structuralist film, image sequences of flowers become an evocative flow of color and motion in a psychedelic world, suggestive of the vulnerability and transitory quality of nature.
Reception: Thursday, Sept. 22, 6-7:30 p.m.
Gallery hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
