Gallery See | SCAD Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, Ga.

Jan. 05 – Feb. 26, 2012

Alexander Hall Gallery | 668 Indian St., Savannah, Ga.

The SCAD exhibitions department presents "ReconFigure: New Permanent Collection Acquisitions" featuring a selection of works by alumni and students who are pushing boundaries in contemporary figure painting. Employing bold uses of color, distorted proportions and perspectives, and borrowing from the languages of comics, illustration, animation and film, these artists exemplify new terrain in representations of the human form.

Artists include: Monica Cook (B.F.A., painting, 1996); Britt Spencer (M.F.A. painting student; B.F.A., illustration, 2005); Michael Porten (M.F.A. painting student; B.F.A., illustration, 2004); Summer Wheat (M.F.A., painting, 2005); Jonathan Yoerger (M.F.A., painting, 2011; B.F.A., illustration, 2008); Xiaolu Zhang, (M.F.A. painting student).
