Natalija Mijatovic Exhibition: "Residual Landscape"

Nov. 07 – Dec. 02, 2011

Alexander Hall Gallery | 668 Indian St., Savannah, Ga.

The SCAD exhibitions department presents "Residual Landscape," a solo exhibition of paintings and works on paper from the series Sand and Snow by SCAD Savannah painting professor Natalija Mijatovic. With use of aqueous layering and abstracted mark-making, Mijatovic conjures notions of organic and urban decay and architectural form. These subtle implications of human presence recall what she describes as "the wintery silence of an empty city," relating to memories of her homeland in Serbia while allowing viewers space to infer their own associations with unoccupied industrial landscapes.

Held in conjunction with the 14th annual Southeastern College Art Conference "Text & Texture" held at SCAD Savannah.

Reception: Friday, Nov. 11, 6:30-8 p.m.

Gallery hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
