"Shangri-la," a series of large-scale collaged photographic images by Michelle Repici (M.F.A., photography, 2009) harmonizes contemporary fashion with the style of Ukiyo-e, or the Japanese genre of a floating world aesthetic. The decorative detailing, Japanese-inspired visual lyricism and precise styling of Repici's compositions combine fantasy and otherworldly beauty with enticing fashions. Also on view is a selection of photographs from Repici's "Over the Hills and Far Away" series featuring figures in collage-like storybook landscapes that mimic cut fabric patterns.
