11/8/2006 The Savannah College of Art and Design presents "Nature's Mysteries," an exhibition by foundation studies professor Maher Yacoub, Nov. 8–30 at Hall Street Gallery, 212 Hall St., Savannah, Ga."Nature's Mysteries" features vibrant watercolors that explore nature's forms as a metaphor for emotion, beauty and passion. Yacoub blends his different cultural experiences with traditional and contemporary techniques as he explores the universal beauty in nature. "I express my love and passion for nature’s forms with an uninhibited palette. I try over time to discover nature’s mysteries and present its harmony with the universe," Yacoub said. Yacoub's work has shown in Egypt, Europe, Canada and the United States. Born and educated in Cairo, Egypt, he later immigrated to Canada. After earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University in New York, Yacoub taught for 30 years at McGill University in Montreal. He came to the United States seven years ago to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming an American citizen, which he did July 4, 2005. "What is it in nature that captures a man's soul to the point of total dedication?" Yacoub asked. "Artists have spent a lifetime with their attempts to find the answers."
