11/9/2007

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design will host a gallery hop Friday, Nov. 9, 5-7 p.m. Refreshments are provided and shuttles run between all stops. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, e-mail SCAD exhibitions at exhibitions@scad.edu.

Exhibitions featured on the hop include:

“Inside Outside” by Deborah Mosch and Steven Mosch
Pinnacle Gallery, 320 E. Liberty St.
Oct. 11 – Nov. 20
The title of this exhibition featuring work by two SCAD professors highlights differences in the artists’ styles: Deborah’s paintings and drawings present abstractions of her internal thoughts and emotions, while Steven’s panoramic photographs capture views of the outside world.

“Decay Constant” by Katherine Wright
Alexander Hall Annex, 668 Indian St.
Oct. 24 – Nov. 9
In her series of photographs featured in her M.F.A. thesis show, SCAD M.F.A. photography candidate Katherine Wright investigates her world and the anxiety she feels about constant change, perpetual aging and the eventual loss of those closest to her.

“The Anchorage” by Sarah Jones
Alexander Hall Gallery, 668 Indian St.
Oct. 24 – Nov. 9
In her thesis exhibition, M.F.A. photography candidate Sarah Jones' documentary photographs focus on the compulsive nature of collecting, which in turn reveals a great deal about the collectors themselves.

“Invisible Masterpiece” by Shin il Kim
Pei Ling Chan Gallery, 322 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Oct. 26 – Dec. 2
Korean multimedia artist Shin il Kim’s pressed line drawing videos focus on the emergence and disappearance of the idea of the cult masterpiece.

Working Class Studio Open House
Old Arch Hall, 235 W. Boundary St.
Nov. 9
In conjunction with the Nov. 9 Gallery Hop, Working Class Studio will host an open house. The studio will be open to the public and will feature live student demonstrations, refreshments and Working Class Studio products available for sale.

“Ill Remember You” by Yeondoo Jung
Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St.
Oct. 26 – Nov.18
Named Artist of the Year for 2007 by the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul, Korea, emerging artist Yeondoo Jung uses artificially constructed sets to consider how a simulated and theatrical landscape can appear indistinguishable from the real.

“Identifiera” by Anna Hattendorf
May Poetter Gallery, 342 Bull St.
Nov. 1 – 29
In her thesis exhibition, SCAD M.F.A. metals and jewelry candidate Anna Hattendorf uses identifiable objects like embroidery hoops in her works to explore the idea that emotional responses to these everyday items are particular to each viewer.
