11/9/2006 On Nov. 9, 7 p.m., the Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St., will host its fall Open Studio Night to showcase its fine arts programs and state-of-the-art facilities in photography, printmaking and painting. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held on the fifth floor of the college’s newly constructed wing, located in Building C.
While being entertained by live music and treated to refreshments, guests will have the opportunity to view and purchase more than 200 pieces of original art by SCAD students, faculty and alumni. Open Studio Night has been spearheaded by SCAD-Atlanta’s acting photography chair Steve Aishman, printmaking chair Richard Gere and painting professor Tom Francis. Steve Bliss, dean of the School of Communication Arts, also has helped craft the evening’s events, which will include on-site studio demonstrations by students and faculty in each of the featured disciplines. The event is co-sponsored by Neilsen-Bainbridge and the Sam Flax Art and Design Shoppe. UPDATE: See pictures from the event. Article by Turia Stark Williams, communications manager for SCAD-Atlanta
