On display are paintings, drawings and prints that explore people's experiences and immediate surroundings after tragic events, as well as chronicling ways in which people assimilate and deal with such events. Dapo, recipient of the Gulfstream Aerospace Scholarship for 2005–06 at SCAD, grew up in war-ravaged Bosnia and Croatia. In 1997, she sought political asylum in Sweden, and in 1998 she relocated to Phoenix, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Arizona State University. "After being displaced to different countries and atmospheres, I have embraced my memories believing that the war experience, the travels and culture shocks of new countries have all had a purpose, and directly relate to my work … Bringing together tragic and compassionate images I try to achieve harmony."
