Liberty St. A reception will be held Thursday, July 21, 5–7 p.m., at the gallery. Both the reception and exhibition are open to the public."Migration" is an exhibition of new work by SCAD 1996 painting alumna Monica Cook. The work explores the bittersweet feeling experienced when leaving a familiar place, as well as its effects on one’s sense of self. Cook’s trademark self-portraits and textured pieces are again represented in this exhibition. Cook has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions all over the world, including Savannah and Atlanta, Ga.; Dallas and Austin, Texas; New York City; Amsterdam, in the Netherlands; and Tel Aviv, Israel. Her work has been included in international auctions held through Sotheby’s, and it is part of private collections from Savannah to Pennsylvania to Barcelona, Spain. Cook has worked as an art therapist, freelance artist and muralist since her graduation from SCAD.
