2/27/2007 The Savannah College of Art and Design presents “Synaptic Bliss,” a video and sound installation by Aziz + Cucher on display Feb. 27–March 15, at Pei Ling Chan Gallery, 322 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Savannah, Ga.Anthony Aziz and Sammy Cucher have been collaborating and screening digital photography, sculpture, video and architectural installations since 1991. Considered pioneers in the field of digital imaging, Aziz’s and Cucher’s work has appeared at major museums and institutions in the United States and overseas. Synaptic Bliss is a four-channel video and sound environment that evokes the four seasons and cycles of life in a world halfway between organic and digital. This installation explores ideas of a digital consciousness that allows for the simultaneous perception of multiple perspectives and scales, as well as the blurring of the distinctions between the body and its environment.
