SCAD hosts annual Georgia High School Drawing Competition |

1/5/2008 ![]() ATLANTA—The Savannah College of Art and Design invited Georgia high school educators to submit student artwork to the Georgia High School Drawing Competition. Approximately 458 entries from 85 participating high schools were submitted this year, more than double the participation of last year. The statewide competition honors talented visual art students and the art educators who skillfully guide them toward success. The work of the top 50 finalists will be featured in a juried exhibition at SCAD-Atlanta Jan. 28–Feb. 9, 2008. The top 10 award winners selected by the jury will be offered scholarships to attend SCAD-Atlanta, SCAD-Savannah or SCAD-eLearning upon application and acceptance to the college. Scholarship awards to students whose work is selected as one of the top 10 entries range from $1,500 to $5,000 per year and are renewable until completion of a bachelor’s degree (180 quarter hours), as long as the recipient is enrolled and maintains a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 The presentation of awards is Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, 6 p.m., at SCAD-Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St. For more information, visit www.scad.edu/ghsdc, call 404.253.2700 or 877.722.3285 or e-mail visitatl@scad.edu.
