Pace University offers artist residency

The fine arts department and Dyson College at Pace University are offering their second Summer Artist’s Residency Program. Selected artists will have around-the-clock access to ceramics, sculpture, digital and painting studios; will receive a small stipend; and will have their work featured in a solo exhibition in September. The artists are expected to utilize the studio space provided to create their work, speak informally with students and give a public lecture. Studios are available June 10 through the end of August. The Mobile (Ala.) Museum of Art is holding an all-media competition for its Southeastern Juried Exhibition 2008. The contest is open to all artists over age 18 who live in the 12-state Southeastern region -- Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. With the biennial, the museum will make available approximately $10,000 in cash and/or purchase awards, as well as producing and nationally distributing nationally an illustrated catalog to highlight the work. SCAD counseling and student support services holds image competition

The SCAD counseling and student support services department is seeking an image to advertise “Jump Start,” an intensive, three-day early orientation for incoming first-year students who have a disability. The competition is open to all enrolled SCAD students. Students may enter up to three images; all work must be able to be reproduced on T-shirts. Images should use no more than four colors, preferably three. The original size must not be greater than nine by 12 inches. Help 'green' Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal, the 1913 Beaux Arts building at 42nd and Park in New York City, is launching a new green initiative with the U.S. Green Building Council and leading design experts. Designers, architects and green experts will judge a green design competition for Grand Central’s annual holiday fair. The goal is to reduce the environmental impact in the design of retail environments. Competition focuses on ‘intelligent living spaces’

The Industrial Technology Research Institute from Taiwan is holding the 2008 Intelligent Living Spaces—Ambiance Creation and Simulation competition. The goal is to design a living space that embodies safety, health, conservation, sustainable living and comfort.
