"The Master Eye: 19th- and 20th-century Photography from the Rhoades Collection"

The photographs in this exhibition include iconic examples from pioneering 19th-century practitioners and major 20th-century photographers, who wielded their cameras to capture images of arresting landscapes, richly textured narratives, elegant fashion scenes, singular still lifes and powerful portraits. Featured photographers include Mathew Brady, Eadweard Muybridge, Man Ray, Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz and other celebrated masters.

"Mapping the Past: A Selection of Antique Cartography from the Newton Collection"

Maps depicting North America, Great Britain and the world are on view in the museum's three map galleries. Highlights include 1597 maps from the earliest atlas of the Americas, 1776 military maps, and other 17th- and 19th-century maps, some of them hand-colored. Cartographers include Wytfliet, Hondius, Monath, Lotter, d'Anville, Faden, Lodge, Cary and Wyld.

These exhibitions chronicle the history of SCAD's Kiah Hall. Once the headquarters of the venerable Central of Georgia Railroad and now a college art museum, the landmark Greek Revival building epitomizes the elegance of mid-19th-century architecture. Exhibition assistance was provided through a grant from the Georgia Humanities Council. Complementing the historical overview of the building is a small photographic exhibition that documents the recently completed exterior preservation of the structure, a project made possible by a major Save America's Treasures federal grant and additional assistance from the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation and the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation.

"Mélange d’Art Sélect: Recent Acquisitions at the SCAD Museum of Art"

This exhibition focuses on works recently acquired by SCAD. Highlights include a selection of couture fashion from the C.Z. Guest Collection and from other recent fashion gifts. From the classic elegance of Fortuny, Christian Dior and Chanel to the sumptuous beauty of Balmain and Vera Wang, this preview of SCAD's new costume collection reveals icons of style from dramatic evening dresses to chic suits. Also on view are vibrant master prints by Spanish surrealist Joan Miró and American pop artist Jim Dine. Photographs featured include large luminous works by Karl Lagerfeld and gelatin silver prints by Andy Warhol, recently donated by the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts. "Only Dick, No Jane" Exhibition by Larry Anderson

"Only Dick, No Jane" features works on paper and canvas by SCAD foundation studies professor Larry Jens Anderson. In this ongoing series, Anderson incorporates the iconic boy from the Dick and Jane readers as a visual paragon for a conventional childhood. Imbued with seemingly innocent imagery of fruit, cowboys and cats, these works represent his affecting and often conflicted experience of growing up gay in America. "Perspectives" Exhibition in Lacoste

The exhibitions department presents "Perspectives" featuring paintings created by SCAD graduate painting students during the 2009 winter quarter in Lacoste, France. Works in the show range in both style and subject matter representing the breadth of exploration and development during the students' unique and concentrated study in France. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Rising Star program

This five-week residential program awards college credit to rising high school seniors who are ready for a summer college experience. Students enroll in two college-level classes and have the opportunity to build or enhance their visual arts portfolios. Outside class, students complete assignments, take field trips, socialize, and enjoy area parks and other attractions. College housing and meals are provided. Students who successfully complete the Rising Star program earn college credit, which may be applied toward a baccalaureate degree at SCAD or at other colleges or universities. (Course credits are applied to degree requirements at the discretion of the accepting institution.)

Schedule your own mock interview to practice your interviewing skills. Career services staff will videotape you as they conduct a professional 15-minute interview. The exhibitions department presents "Design Thinking," a curated design sales exhibition showcasing the outstanding breadth of SCAD's School of Design faculty, students and alumni. "Design Thinking" will represent designers as artists who are receptive to a synthesis of open source practicality, luxury, conceptual thinking and creativity, and who satisfy our complex needs and stimulate our active curiosity. "Monumental Ideas in Miniature Book Making" Exhibition
Alexander Hall, 668 Indian St., Savannah, Ga.
The exhibitions department presents "Monumental Ideas in Miniature Book Making," a traveling exhibition of nearly 150 miniature artists' books from more than 13 countries. These little treasures explore epic tales, poetry and storytelling using a myriad of book and printmaking techniques by nationally and internationally recognized book artists. Originated by the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, "Monumental Ideas in Miniature Book Making" debuted at the 2009 Southern Graphics Council at Columbia College, Ill. A reception will take place July 17, 6-8 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
