SCAD presents "Y No Hay Remedio," a solo thesis exhibition by SCAD M.F.A. painting student Kalin Allen. Allen’s work focuses on a painting’s performative nature. Her intent is to examine the elements in which a relic holds multiple meanings, physically and metaphorically.
"Y No Hay Remedio" offers the possibility for paintings to depart and return to the stages of their creation, all while carrying the journey with them. The exhibition presents a selection of works that includes paintings, sculpture and text, and Allen explores the answers and methods behind the underlying and literal meanings the objects hold.
Presented as part of the 2014 deFINE ART program, Feb. 18-21
Reception: Friday, Feb. 21, 5-7 p.m.
Gallery hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
