Atlanta, GA

1600 Peachtree St. NW

Participants experience the contemporary art scene of Atlanta by exploring Atlanta art galleries and heightening their sense of awareness of what's culturally happening in the city. This four week class taught by Kevin Archer is perfect for interior designers, art critics, art history students, art educators, and emerging artists! Students become more familiar with local contemporary art by viewing exhibitions as a group in Atlanta galleries; they explore new neighborhoods and galleries and meet with gallery owners and staff. Each week, participants gain insight into how the various galleries define their roles, what they have to say about the art they are exhibiting, and the various approaches to curating art. Group discussions help the class reflect and explore new topics relating to artists’ strategies and their experiences. Participants meet in districts including Castleberry Hill, Inman Park/Midtown, The Westside Arts District and Buckhead. Course costs $100.
