- About SCAD
SCAD students and alumni benefit from an extensive array of career services. Advisers provide individual guidance about course options, résumés, portfolios, interviews and job-search strategies. Workshops and classes cover entrepreneurship, branding, salary negotiation, socially responsible careers and more. Recognized national and international companies and organizations recruit SCAD students and alumni. These companies conduct job interviews, review portfolios, deliver presentations and participate in networking events with faculty and students. According to a recent survey of Spring 2012 SCAD alumni, 91 percent were employed or pursuing further education within nine months of graduation.
Students may encounter challenging life experiences that interfere with the pursuit of their academic goals and/or personal growth. Counselors are available to assist students with short-term individual counseling, organize support groups, make community referrals, plan educational workshops and provide self-help resources. Assistance is offered for a wide range of concerns, and services are free. Confidentiality is guaranteed within legal and ethical guidelines. Call 912.525.6971 to make an appointment or e-mail the student counseling office with any questions.
Upon enrollment, students are assigned an adviser to help them develop educational plans that relate their career goals with academic offerings. Advisers also assist the student and family with any financial questions or concerns regarding educational expenses at SCAD. Students may consult individually with their adviser in person, by phone or by email.
Financial aid is made available to qualified students to assist them in paying for their education at SCAD. Financial aid information is updated annually regarding the types and amounts of financial aid available, the process to apply for aid, policies and procedures related to the awarding of financial aid, and disbursement information for each aid program.
Students can access their SCAD financial records through MySCAD to review financial aid application requirements, download required forms, receive award notification and view all aid applied to their student accounts.
SCAD offers a number of Web-only media organizations for students to develop their craft as writers, photographers, graphic designers and other professionals.
