2015 API session dates

All SCAD Advanced Placement Institutes workshops are at SCAD Atlanta and are held Monday through Friday.

Participants may choose to stay in a SCAD residence hall or attend sessions as a nonresidential participant. Residential participant check-in is Sunday afternoon, and participants must checkout by 2 p.m. Friday. Housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and early registration is encouraged. Nonresidential participant check-in is Monday morning, and participants should checkout Friday afternoon before leaving SCAD Atlanta.

Studio Art courses focus on 2-D, 3-D and drawing. English Language and Composition emphasizes nonfiction, while English Literature and Composition focuses on fiction. All courses are for new and experienced AP educators, both domestic and international.

Organized activities

Explore SCAD Atlanta and area attractions throughout the week by participating in activities planned for residential API participants. Activities may include discovering the sights and sounds of the Westside Provisions District, enjoying tapas at local dining hotspots, exploring the beauty of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, viewing exhibitions at the High Museum of Art, and other exciting excursions.

Housing and meals

Residential participants must pay for their housing during online registration. The housing fee is $150 per participant, per week, and participants are encouraged to register early for this option.

All participants receive an orientation breakfast on Monday, lunch Monday through Friday, and coffee daily. All other meals are participants’ responsibility. Meals may be purchased à la carte at the SCAD dining facility.

Travel and parking

Atlanta is easily accessible by airplane, train, bus and automobile. SCAD does not provide transportation to and from the airport, train or bus stations. Information regarding ground transportation services from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are available online.

Complimentary parking is available in the SCAD Atlanta parking garage, 1600 Peachtree St. Participants will receive a SCAD shuttle schedule at check-in that includes information regarding SCAD bus routes. Transportation is provided to all organized activities, and the residence hall is a short walk to SCAD Atlanta.
