Understanding the online learning environment
All new eLearning students are automatically enrolled in an online orientation course known as the SCAD Student Resource Guide. This course is presented in the same format as a typical eLearning course. In this way, online education students can become familiar with the layout and navigation of their classes. Students have the opportunity to practice activities, including participating in discussions, submitting assignments and reviewing course content. Students new to eLearning have the option to meet other students and SCAD eLearning staff.
The resource guide complements live orientations via online meeting rooms that present resources available to SCAD eLearning students, including a quick-reference list for contacting key university personnel, responses to frequently asked questions, and information about SCAD resources and policies.
Visit a SCAD location
eLearners can also plan a visit to any SCAD location and get to know more about the university. Student visitors can sit in on class discussions, meet one-on-one with faculty from their program and see what it means to be part of the SCAD family.
Get to know the faculty
Even if eLearning students are unable to physically visit SCAD, they may still join us for one of our monthly online chat sessions. These sessions are ideal for hearing the latest news about the eLearning program and discussing specific course details with faculty members.
