Russell currently serves as editor-at-large for Galerie magazine, a quarterly publication that informs and inspires, delivering the finest in art, interiors, architecture and destinations.
During a storied tenure as vice president and editor-in-chief of Elle Decor, a publication she helped found in 1989, Russell created elledecor.com and produced the best-selling Elle Decor book series. Her first book, "Designing Women: Interiors by Leading Style Makers," was published by Stewart, Tabori & Chang in 2001.
From 2010 to 2016, Russell served as editor-in-chief of Architectural Digest and her second book, "So Chic: Glamorous Lives, Stylish Spaces" was released by Filipacchi Publishing in 2007. SCAD honored Russell with an Étoile Award in 2008 for her important contributions to style, design and architecture, and she delivered the keynote address at SCAD 2014 commencement ceremonies in Savannah and Atlanta, earning an honorary doctorate from the university.
Additionally, Russell is a presidential appointee to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and a member of the advisory council of the Philip Johnson Glass House, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She has also appeared as a featured judge on both seasons of Bravo's "Top Design."
