About CLC

About CLCThe Collaborative Learning Center was conceived through the development of the Quality Enhancement Plan required by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The QEP is the most essential element of the SACS reaffirmation process, where universities are required to develop a course of action to address a well-defined topic or issue related to enhancing student learning at the institution.

The Quality Enhancement Plan

SCAD's QEP reflects and affirms SCAD's commitment to the enhancement of the quality of its education, with student learning at the heart of its mission. The primary focus of SCAD's QEP is to better prepare students for professional careers by enhancing their collaboration expertise through real-world collaborative initiatives, providing them with additional professional expertise that cannot be gained in a traditional learning environment. Collaborative Learning Triptych

SCAD developed a framework, the Collaborative Learning Triptych, to ensure that the collaboration efforts between SCAD and external agencies adhere to current higher education and business best practices and enhance student learning. The SCAD Collaborative Learning Triptych specifies that collaborative initiatives should involve three anchoring contributors: SCAD professors; clients from businesses or public organizations (external partners); and SCAD students from multiple disciplines. These three contributors, i.e., the triptych, should actively engage in an authentic collaborative learning process that produces tangible outcomes.

Collaborative Learning Center

To institutionalize the implementation of such collaborative initiatives, SCAD established a service department–– the SCAD Collaborative Learning Center. The center is the central hub for collaborative projects that adhere to the Collaborative Learning Triptych, providing SCAD with a university-wide platform to facilitate the development and implementation of collaborative initiatives. With the center's support and commitment to the triptych, SCAD aims to continuously enhance student learning, while preparing them for professional, creative careers.
