Celebrate archaeology with Wormsloe
May is archaeology month in Georgia. Wormsloe Historic Site, 7601 Skidaway Road, is one of several places across Georgia offering special programs to celebrate this 11th annual event. The Wormsloe event, “A Closer Look,” will allow groups a rare visit within the ruins of Noble Jones’ colonial home on the Isle of Hope. Groups will leave the Wormsloe museum every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Group size is limited to 15. Reservations are recommended. Admission is $2 for seniors, $2.50 for adults, $150 for children 6-18. To make a reservation, call 353-3023.

Church talks about gay marriage
Robert Bush, a lawyer, father and local gay activist, will talk about the legal and spiritual dimensions of gay marriage May 16, 11 a.m., at the Unitarian Church of Savannah at the corner of Habersham and Harris streets.

Aid NetAid
Net Aid, a nonprofit that mobilizes young people in the United States in the fight against global poverty, is seeking talented SCAD students to help design and create cool, visually compelling maps, posters, signage, etc., for a press event on the theme of “Education for All.” Times with the beginning of the G8 Summit, NetAid will use this as an opportunity to present the results of the Global Campaign for Education’s Action week 2004, during which almost one million people around the world spoke out on behalf for “Education for All.” SCAD students who would like to be involved should contact Joy Portella, director of communications at NetAid, at jportella@netaid.org no later than May 17.

Watch a pot
A pottery-making demonstration will be held May 15, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, 767 Clifton Road. The demonstration is included with museum admission and is free for museum members. Admission is $12 for adults, $11 for students and senior and $10 for children 12 and under.

Get swamped
“Swamp Thing,” a lantern-lit walk along the banks of the historic Savannah Ogeechee barge canal, will be held May 29, 7:30-9:30 p.m., at the Ogeechee Canal Museum and Nature Center, 681 Fort Argyle Road. Tours will be offered every 15 minutes throughout the evening. The tour is on existing low-impact trails that will be lot. Groups of 15 or more are encouraged to make reservations. Admission is $5. Find friends with the Dolphin Project
The Dolphin Project of Georgia surveys the waters of coastal Georgia for research into the habitats and activities of the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin. Boat owners, photographers and other volunteers are needed to help conduct scientific research that takes place on one weekend the months January, April, July and October. Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Attend an orientation and training session on June 5, 9 a.m., at Armstrong-Atlantic University, University Hall, room 107, to learn the procedures followed in a survey and how you can participate.
