Careers in the Arts

Preparing students for careers is the mission of the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Through a commitment to new technology, individual attention and the continued development of relevant course offerings, SCAD prepares students for success in college and beyond.

In every program of study the curriculum is professionally oriented, incorporating instruction in business or scholarly practices and encourging or requiring internships in the field. Coursework often parallels professional practice and may involve actual clients. Facilities reflect current trends in the industry, and students have access to state-of-the-art equipment and learning tools.

Career services staff members at SCAD provide career development and professional job search assistance to SCAD students and alumni through individual counseling and exploration of career opportunities in art and design.

Individual Career Advisement

Career advisers assist students in discovering fields of employment and provide instruction on résumé and cover letter writing, portfolio presentation, interview skills and networking.

Job Magnet

The SCAD Job Magnet is a free online listing of professional job opportunities, internships, freelance opportunities, career search engines and Web sites relevant to SCAD students and alumni.

Alumni Career Network

Career services staff may put students in contact with SCAD alumni who can offer insight and advice about their professions and assist students and fellow alumni with their job searches.
