For years, you've worked hard to gain valuable experience and develop an impressive portfolio. Now is your chance to capitalize on the knowledge and skills you have acquired while studying and creating at SCAD. Representatives from 100 top companies will be seeking candidates for a wide range of art and design jobs at the SCAD Career Fair 2014. Take advantage of this opportunity to land the job of your dreams.

  • Free Wi-Fi will be available for all. However, you should save your work offline and prepare to show your portfolio offline.
  • A valid SCAD ID card is required for admission to the career fair. Alumni can obtain a SCAD ID card while in Savannah for the event. The SCAD Card office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, on the first floor of Bradley Hall. Learn more about requesting a SCAD ID.

SCAD Career Fair 2014 will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

10 a.m.
Seniors, graduate students, and alumni will be admitted.

11 a.m.
Juniors will be admitted.

1 p.m.
Freshmen and sophomores will be admitted.

This workshop, aimed at sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students in the School of Digital Media, will focus on the importance of creating a strong portfolio website.

Students will explore options for website building that require minimal HTML knowledge, investigating Behance ProSite, Cargo Collective, Carbonmade and Squarespace to determine the best site for your creative needs.

Learn how to pitch your skills to potential employers in seven minutes or less.

This workshop is designed to provide highly targeted practice sessions for juniors, seniors and graduate students in the School of Digital Media and School of Entertainment Arts who are preparing for any of the possible interview settings, including SCAD Career Fair 2014.

Six faculty members, graduate students and career advisers will act as employers. After listening to your seven-minute pitch, each "employer" will provide feedback before you move to the next mock interview.

This workshop will help you improve your pitching techniques and upgrade your interviewing skills for a variety of events.

In the first half of the session “U.S. Employment for International Students,” ISSO advisers will answer questions about Curricular Practical Training, Pre-completion OPT and Post-completion OPT. Immigration attorney Bob Johnson will then discuss visa options for international students who want to work in the U.S. Johnson will focus on the process of going from Optional Practical Training (OPT) to an H1B visa.

Graduating seniors and graduate students nearing completion of studies are strongly encouraged to attend.

At the “The Road to a Green Card” workshop, Mehreen Bazm (M.A., broadcast design, 2011) will discuss her experiences moving from an F1 visa to H1B, then to EAD (employment authorization) and her life now as a green-card holder. Bazm will discuss the procedures and challenges of changing your visa status, and give advice on understanding and navigating the work visa process.

More than 1.5 million nonprofits in the U.S. employ 8 percent of the nation’s workforce and account for more than 5 percent of the Gross National Product. In New York City alone, one in seven people work for a nonprofit. The “Doing Well by Doing Good: Exploring Careers within the Service and Nonprofit Sectors” presentation will debunk several misconceptions and explore rewarding opportunities that require creativity, artistic abilities and strong design skills within nonprofits and the social entrepreneurial realm.

We will also discuss ways to gain valuable work experience within local nonprofit organizations that will make students more marketable upon graduation.

Join SCAD alumni from various industries as they share insight into their careers as freelance artists at this workshop titled “My So-Called Freelance Life.”

The panel will address topics such as deciding to become a freelancer, managing professional discipline, promoting your own work and securing clients. You will leave this discussion with knowledge on how to take your vision and develop your own creative career. Each attendee will leave with a copy of “Maximize Your Potential: Grow Your Expertise, Take Bold Risks & Build an Incredible Career” (The 99U Book Series).
