Increased payment options and security Merchants who accept the SCAD Card can be sure of the cardholder’s identity because the SCAD Card is a picture ID and availability of funds is guaranteed. The SCAD Card is a debit card, not a personal check or credit card. Merchants are assured of payment for all valid transactions.
The SCAD Card receives quarterly recognition in The Chronicle The Chronicle is the weekly newspaper published by the Savannah College of Art and Design and the official source for information about the college's events, people, policies and programs. The paper's audience is the SCAD community of nearly 7,000 students and their parents, 340 faculty members, 800 staff members, and more than 8,000 alumni. Prior to arriving on campus, all students also receive promotional materials from the SCAD Card office including merchant information.

Merchant is recognized on the SCAD Web site There are no advertising opportunities available to the general public on the SCAD Web site, but SCAD Card participants are listed on a SCAD Card Merchants pages for
Savannah and
Atlanta.
Mechanics of the System The merchant agrees to furnish, at its own expense, the phone lines necessary to access the SCAD Card Dial-Up System, and a Tranz330 card authorization terminal and printer. Merchants with the available Tranz330 hardware need only provide the SCAD Card office with the serial number of the machine in order for the appropriate software to be downloaded to it. Refurbished Tranz330s and printers are available through the SCAD Card office at cost ($195 for the printer, $250 for the Tranz330). Costs can be deducted from initial sales.
The merchant agrees to pay SCAD a monthly commission based on monthly or weekly SCAD Card transactions. SCAD pays the merchant on a weekly basis less the commission five days after the merchant provides SCAD with a written statement of valid SCAD Card transactions. Payment is made to merchants each Friday based on the previous week’s receipts. Merchant receives payment through its choice of direct deposit or a mailed check.
