Atlanta College of Art Library of SCAD-Atlanta
When the Atlanta College of Art merged with the Savannah College of Art and Design in June 2006, the important resources of each institution were combined to create a significant specialized library named in honor of the Atlanta College of Art’s century of fine arts instruction.
The
ACA Library of SCAD is located at SCAD-Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St., where students may utilize more than 50,000 volumes, 370 periodicals and nearly 100,000 slides, as well as online texts and services. State-of-the-art workstations include laptop hookups and sound barriers. A media center allows students to view videos and DVDs in the library. Students in Atlanta also have access to Jen Library resources through interlibrary loan.
Learning Assistance
Through the SCAD libraries, free learning assistance provides students with individual tutoring and group workshops on drawing, 2-D design and color theory. Academic counseling on study skills, time and stress management and learning styles also is offered.
Writing Center
The library provides writing assistance in prewriting strategies, structuring ideas, developing thesis statements and formulating cover letters. Visit the

Educators Check Out Artists Book Collection at the ACA Library of SCAD
This summer, 240 participants in the SCAD-Atlanta’s community education programs visited the
artists book collection in the Atlanta College of Art Library of SCAD. High school students from the SCAD Summer Seminars and teachers from both the Advanced Placement Institutes and the Art Educators’ Forum heard introductory lectures about artists books from library staff, and also had hands-on sessions with the collection.
Teaching Collection Highlights Books as Works of Art
Among the many unique resources that SCAD-Atlanta offers to its students is the
artist’s book collection, housed at the Atlanta College of Art Library of SCAD, 1600 Peachtree St. Although students and faculty have had access to the collection since the June 2006 merger between ACA and SCAD, the collection now has its own, newly renovated space near the front of the library.
