SCAD-eLearning Faculty
Due to the expansion and success of distance education programs offered through SCAD-eLearning, the Savannah College of Art and Design is seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to teach its fully online courses. All coursework offered through SCAD-eLearning is led by faculty members, requiring active teaching, assessment of student work and facilitation of learning via technological means. The college is accepting applications for online faculty in photography, contemporary art history and graphic design. Qualified candidates must have the terminal degree in the discipline or in a related field, as well as online teaching experience with the use of course management systems and instructional software. All courses offered through the college's online program, SCAD-eLearning, are custom designed to reflect the unique qualities, rigor and depth of the college's on-site curriculum. Classes follow the academic calendar for start and stop dates, with each term lasting 10 weeks. Contract compensation is $3,800 and is based on a per-class basis. Training and faculty orientation are provided. Compensation for course development contracts is $4,000 and also is based on a per-class basis. The development contracts run six to nine months, based on delivery schedules set through the SCAD-eLearning department. Design assistance is provided through SCAD-eLearning.



School of Building Arts

Interior Design Program Coordinator
The Savannah College of Art and Design is seeking a program coordinator for the interior design department at its Atlanta location. The successful candidate will be a faculty member with additional responsibilities for the administration duties within the department. In addition to teaching two courses (preferably in the areas of computer-aided design or building information modeling), the program coordinator will manage the development and implementation of curriculum and academic standards at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, in accordance with the college’s mission and vision statements. In addition, the successful candidate will provide appropriate program leadership and support, develop substantial ties to the professional design community in Atlanta, secure qualified instructional personnel in coordination with current faculty members, conduct curriculum assessment, plan and implement scheduled accreditation activities, and promote the program to demonstrate accountability to the public. The program coordinator reports directly to the assistant vice president of SCAD-Atlanta and works in conjunction with the dean of the School of Building Arts and the chair of interior design at the Savannah location. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in interior design or a related field with demonstrated professional experience. Prior teaching or administrative experience is desirable.

Professor of Interior Design
SCAD-Atlanta seeks candidates for full- and part-time faculty positions in interior design. The department is part of the School of Building Arts, which also includes the architecture and historic preservation programs. The graduate interior design program was ranked No. 1 for 2008 by DesignIntelligence magazine. The interior design B.F.A., M.F.A. and M.A. programs challenge creative students to become innovative designers capable of critical thinking and effective communication. Professional ethics and values are enhanced within the context of social, environmental and global design practice. Applicants must have enthusiasm for design excellence and collaboration with other majors within the college, and a commitment to education.

Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in interior design or a related field. Emphasis and experience should be in commercial and/or residential design, and applicants should be certified NCIDQ and/or LEED AP. Working knowledge of AutoCad, BIM or other CAD programs is a plus. College-level teaching experience in studio courses, rendering or professional practice is desirable.





School of Communication Arts

Professor of Graphic Design
SCAD-Atlanta seeks candidates for part-time faculty positions in graphic design. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in graphic design, as well as college-level teaching experience. Ideal candidates are primarily graphic designers with professional experience and thorough computer/software knowledge. The college seeks educators who will encourage innovation and process development while teaching practical concepts of the design industry as a constant element. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and developing online coursework. Areas of hire are listed below:

Professor of Graphic Design (Foundation studies) Candidates should be flexible design educators who are able to teach a variety of subjects and levels. Foundation studies courses include Introduction to Graphic Design, Typography I, Print Studio I, History of Graphic Design and software application training courses.
Professor of Graphic Design (Web multimedia) Candidates should be specialists who are able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses on Web and multimedia design on a Macintosh platform using Dreamweaver, GoLive, ImageReady and/or Fireworks, LiveMotion and/or Flash.



Professor of Graphic Design – Web-based Technology
SCAD-Atlanta seeks candidates for full-time faculty positions in graphic design with emphasis in Web-based technology. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in graphic design or a related field, as well as college-level teaching experience. Ideal candidates have industry experience, as well as a working knowledge of Web-based software, such as Flash MX, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS2. Candidates should possess broad design knowledge with the ability to teach in a variety of subjects and levels from undergraduate to graduate, in a dynamic, rapidly growing, proactive program. Further preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and developing online courses.



School of Design

Professor of Fashion
SCAD-Atlanta is seeking candidates for full-time faculty positions in fashion. Qualified candidates should have a terminal degree or its equivalent in fashion or a related field, as well as a broad knowledge of fashion design. Excellent design skills and professional recognition are essential in order to join this highly creative, motivated and exciting team that is creating the next generation of fashion designers. Strong skills in design, concept, innovation, illustration, sketching and CAD are highly desirable. Areas of expertise may include design, illustration, sketching, draping, patternmaking and garment construction for misses/specialty sizes, menswear and/or childrenswear. College-level teaching experience in the classroom or through an online format and/or experience developing e-learning courses is also desirable.



School of Film and Digital Media

Professor of Animation
SCAD-Atlanta is seeking candidates for full-time faculty positions in animation. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in animation or a related field. A strong portfolio and industry experience are important. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate (by providing a reel) expert proficiency in 3-D character animation and rigging, using primarily Maya. Expertise in wider aspects of animation is preferred. Professors of 3-D character animation develop students' awareness of story through acting and performance, previsualization, shot blocking, production preplanning and production pipeline for group production. College-level teaching experience in the classroom or through an online format and/or experience developing eLearning courses is desirable.

Professor of Programming for Visual Effects, Interactive Design and Game Development
SCAD-Atlanta seeks candidates for part-time faculty positions in programming for visual effects and interactive design. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in visual effects, programming, interaction design or a related field. A strong portfolio that reflects a high level of knowledge in programming is required. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of programming-related experience within the industry and should be able to teach in at least three of the following areas: C++, ActionScript, object-oriented programming and shell scripting. Familiarity with Linux is a must. Candidates who are knowledgeable about one or more visual effects software packages are preferred.



School of Liberal Arts

Professor of Arts Administration
SCAD-Atlanta seeks candidates for a full-time faculty position in arts administration. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in arts administration or a related field. Candidates must have expertise in at least three of the following areas: legal issues in arts administration; principles and practices in arts institutions; marketing, labor and employee relations; and fundraising and financial management. Experience in the arts administration field is desirable, as is teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Professor of Speech and Public Speaking
SCAD-Atlanta is seeking applications for full-time faculty positions for speech and public speaking. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in public speaking, communications or a related field. Experience teaching speech and other specialized coursework in this field strengthens candidates' applications.
