Students can meet this requirement by passing the language exam administered by the department. Students also must pass a comprehensive architectural history exam as part of the degree requirement. Students are required to take courses from at least three of the four major periods of architectural history: ancient, medieval, Renaissance through rococo, and modern. Additionally, students are strongly encouraged to take non-Western courses.
