Although the downtown area of Savannah — the nation’s largest National Historic Landmark District — receives the most attention, the city possesses seven other historic districts listed on the National Register. Located south of downtown, these areas served as the early suburbs of the city during the 19th and early 20th centuries and represent a variety of ethnic and socio-economic groups.
