Stephenie (Barr) Hughes (B.F.A., photography, 1993) lives in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Derek, and their children, Dakota (November 2000) and Scout (September 2003). Hughes is self-employed and wrote, "I own and manage a home-based business photographing weddings, families and corporate executives. I also have been painting in oils and selling these paintings in the Dallas area."


Kelly Baumgartner-Zacherl (B.F.A., fashion, 1993) lives in Anderson, S.C., and is an assistant designer with Gerber Childrenswear Inc., in Greenville, S.C.

Thomas Beatty (M.F.A., computer art, 1993; M.F.A., computer art, 1995) is president/founder of The Dimension's Edge Inc., a company that specializes in Web development, online games, 2-D and 3-D animation, digital video, business presentations and multimedia. Some of his clients include The Boy Scouts of America, B.U.M. Equipment, Agilent Technologies, CEC Entertainment (Chuck E. Cheese's) and Paws Inc. (owners of Garfield the Cat). Beatty lives in Spanish Fork, Utah, with his wife, Amy Despain Beatty (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) and their children, Daniel (April 1997) and Elizabeth (July 2002).

Michael Benson (B.F.A., photography, 1993) currently works at his own photography studio in Washington, D.C., Ozone Studio. He also owns a restaurant in Washington, D.C., that has been featured in Travel & Leisure magazine, Gourmet, and The Washington Post. It is named Café Saint-Ex ( www.saint-ex.com ), after the French aviator "Antoine de Saint Exupery." Benson wrote, "I am going to start importing beer from Iceland in September with my import company, Arctic Imports LLC. I also have a wonderful daughter, Isabel Pamela Leica Benson, born on October 29, 2003. It's been a busy year."

David Bishop (M.Arch., 1993) is an intern/project manager for Meyer & Heitmann Architects, an AIA award-winning firm in Savannah, Ga. He has accepted a new position as project architect with Solutions, a design-build firm in Tampa, Fla. Bishop plans to relocate to Tampa with his wife, Robin, and son, Connor, in December 2000.

Jessica Booth (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) lives in Atlanta, Ga., and is currently working on her doctorate degree at Georgia State University in art education while teaching part-time at Georgia State University and in the Fulton County public school system. She is also pursuing a full-time college art position.

Lisa Borth (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Smyrna, Ga., and is the corporate residential design manager for MDC Homes, a residential homebuilder.

Fraser Bowie (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is senior consultant with Deloitte Consulting, where he manages Web development projects. Bowie lives in Bernardsville, N.J., with his wife, Maggie, and their daughter, Mackenzie (November 2001).

Sandra (Bramlett) Bonderud (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Phoenix, Ariz., with her husband, Greg, and their daughter, Katerina (February 2004). She is owner of Bonderud Architecture p.llc, a small design firm offering architecture and interior design services.

Scott Britt (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) lives in Seattle, WA, with his partner of 10 years, Randy Henson. He earns  a steady paycheck from Uncle Sam as a Contract Specialist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He does his job as creatively as he can, and misses Savannah dearly and hopes to visit again soon.

Sherry (Brooks) Hobbick (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is a self-employed freelance graphic designer for Hobbick Design. She lives in Morris, Ill., with her husband, Greg, and son, Joshua.

Stacy (Brooks) Chisholm (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Chester, Va., with her husband, Michael, and their children, Noah (April 1997) and Holland (May 2000). She is owner and creative director of Chisholm Creative Solutions, specializing in a unique blend of advertising and direct marketing solutions.

Peter Browne (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in New Jersey and is the senior art director for Genesis Direct, a catalog marketing and design firm based in Secaucus. He oversees the production, including photography and separations, of 27 catalogs.

Alan Bucknam (B.F.A., photography, 1993) lives in Wheat Ridge, Colo., with his wife, Robyn, and their daughters, Sophie (March 2004) and Piper (March 2004). He is the owner and principal of Notchcode Creative, a graphic design, photography, and brand identity studio. He wrote, "Our twin girls keep us very busy, as does running my own studio. I'm still finding time to work on my photographic projects, which right now includes landscapes of onramps, off-ramps and highway medians."

Lynn Caldwell (M.F.A., fibers, 1993) had an article published in American Craft. Her article, "My Love, My Wild Things," discusses her love for her work in fibers. 

Ryan Campbell (B.F.A., painting, 1993) lives in Los Angeles, Calif., and is a self-employed artist working under the name olive47. She specializes in character design and is releasing a line of vinyl and plush toys.

Alethia Canady (M.Arch., 1993) is a temporary instructor at Georgia Southern University where she teaches hand- and computer-drafting classes for the interior design program. Canady lives in Metter, Ga., with her husband, Todd, and their children, Marena (July 1993) and Rachel (September 1996).

Sarah Carroll (M.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) lives in New York, N.Y., and is director of preservation for the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Stacy Corson-Gibboni (B.F.A., painting, 1993) wrote, " I never much liked this general follow up "stuff" BUT... sometimes you find yourself far away... getting older and you think... hmmm... what ever happened to so and so? Well, in case you thought of me-here I am! I found my way to Venice, Italy while working on my Masters Degree at New York University and there I have remained going on 8 years. In January I found myself a little "working mans palace" and have created a guest house. My "baby" was born as I was finishing undergraduate school in Savannah and this year she will be 17! To me, she represents everything positive in the world."

John Crump (M.Arch, 1993) lives in Washington, D.C. and is a partner at SmithGroup (www.smithgroup.com). He wrote, "I oversee design and management of several projects...typically new Urban/Mixed Use projects which incorporate the preservation of an existing historic structure, $80-$120 million range."

Max Dahlstrand (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Sweden with his wife, Rozgar Haydari, and their child, Yuusuf. He is an architect with Arkitektstudion AB, a small architecture firm. Dahlstrand also started a consulting firm arranging Islamic lectures for the public and private sectors.

Jay Danner-McDonald (B.F.A., video/film, 1993) is director of media communications for Discovery Communications Inc. Danner-McDonald is currently preparing installation projects for grant reviews, collaborating with short fiction writers on a series of 60 second short narratives, and preparing models of video installations for future grant proposals.  He wrote, "I'm really into charcoal drawing! I think it is the mess I like."  Danner-McDonald lives in Berkley, Calif., with his wife, Kerry, and their child, Karis (April 2002).

Amy (Despain) Beatty (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) lives in Spanish Fork, Utah, with her husband, Thomas Beatty (B.F.A., computer art, 1993), and their children, Daniel (April 1997) and Elizabeth (July 2002). Beatty wrote, "I am a full-time mother to my five year old son, who has Asperger's Syndrome, and a completely adorable new baby girl. I'm also wife and creative consultant to my husband, Tom."

Chris Dinardo (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) wrote, "After almost eight years of award-winning work for Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta, Ga., I've pulled up stakes and shipped myself, my wife, three cats and two dogs down to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I hope to work enough to make rent, eat and clothe myself."

Anna "Kate" (Dodd) Rappe (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is owner of CMYKate Designs, her own graphic design and print service company. Rappe lives in Seattle, Wash., with her husband, Rick, and their daughters, Lindsey (July 2001) and Maya (August 2003).


Chuck Douglas (M.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) lives in Roswell, Ga., but owns and retreats to an authentic hand-hewn log cabin in the mountains of North Georgia. Douglas is historic site coordinator/director of Smith Plantation, a historic site in Roswell, Ga. He wrote, "I've been very involved in the preservation field since attending SCAD. I serve on several community boards and am involved in several preservation groups including the Georgia Trust, National Trust and GA & SE Museum Association."

Joe Dreher (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Decatur, Ga., with his wife, Treasure, and children, Alexander and Maxmillian. He is owner of Dreher Architecture & Design (www.dreher-ad.com).

Elizabeth Dubose (M.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) lives in Savannah and works for the city of Savannah in its "Keep Savannah Beautiful" program.

Heather Dutton (B.F.A., fashion, 1993) lives in Kennebunk, Maine, and owns her own freelance design business, Hang Tight Studio. "After working for more than five years in San Francisco as a fashion designer, I realized my passion for textile design was a lot stronger," she wrote. "It has been four years since I started my business and it was the best decision I ever made!"

Joe Dyer (B.F.A., photography, 1993) and Janna Timm (B.F.A., interior design, 1993) are married and are parents to Timothy and Zachary. Dyer is the assistant golf professional at the Links Group in Rincon, Ga., and Timm is a sales representative for Walsh Fabrications in Savannah.


Riley Eason (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Hilton Head, S.C., and is an art director for BFG Communications (www.bfgcom.com), an advertising, promotion and event marketing agency.

Carmon (Emery) Roberts (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) and her husband, Scott, live in Boston, Mass., where Roberts works as the president of self-owned Carmon & Company, a Web design firm. Roberts also teaches part-time at the Boston Architectural Center.

Sherry (Ezzell) Simmons (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Irmo, S.C., with her husband, Phil, and their children, Aden (May 2003) and Alexander (July 2004). Simmons is the design coordinator and art director for the University of South Carolina.


Robert Farrigan (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Atlanta, GA. and is employed by BellSouth Advertising and Publishing as an art director. Farrigan also does freelance Web design and paintings on commission.  

Dannielle (Fellenzer) Stark (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Indianapolis, Ind., with her husband, Matthew, and their daughter, Lane (December 2003). Stark is an art director with Scheitlin Communications, a marketing and advertising firm.


Leigh Ferguson (B.F.A., art history, 1993) lives in Brunswick, Ga., with her husband, Robert, and their children, Dakota (May 1995), Mako (July 1997), Shiloh (October 2003) and Grayson (April 2005). Ferguson is a self-employed artist and teacher, donating time to local public schools and teaching summer art programs at the local art association.


Lisa (Fetterly) Riley (B.F.A., fashion, 1993) lives in East Windsor, N.J.with her children, Shannyn and Thomas, and she is a freelance textile/CAD artist.  She wrote, "My beautiful children, my mother, my sister and I recently took a cruise that included stops to Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Malta and Venice, Italy. It sparked wonderful memories of my own off-campus trips that I attended [while] at SCAD. SCAD has been a wonderful experience for me as I continue to grow asan artist and a new Mom."

Kimberly S. Godbee (B.F.A., historic preservation 1993) is the women's basketball coach at SCAD and is attending graduate school at Armstrong Atlantic State University, where she is majoring in history.

Adam Goldberg (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Methuen, Mass., where he is a technical support specialist for Pearson Education responsible for supporting approximately 210 Mac users. In addition, he is the New England Macintosh hardware diagnostic and repair specialist, and all other technicians call him with their hardware-related issues.

Kati Greene (B.F.A., interior design, 1993) lives in New York, N.Y., and is an instructor with the Parsons School of Design.

 

Teresa Green-Fischer (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) married alumnus Scott Fischer (B.F.A., painting, 1994), and the couple moved to Spencertown, N.Y., and started Greenfisch Studios. Green-Fischer now works in watercolor and oils, shows her work and does portrait commissions. She also teaches children's art classes from time to time.

Vicki (Groustra) Tribick (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Roswell, Ga., with her husband, Adrian, and their children, Melanie (November 2002) and William (December 2005). She is corporate design manager for AutoTrader.com, an online automotive classified company.

Melissa (Guthals) Lopez (B.F.A., video/film, 1993) wrote,"My husband Chris and I have two wonderful boys, Vincent and Elias. In 2007 we moved to Bayfield, Colo. just outside of Durango. Jason W. Haley (B.F.A., video/film, 1993), wrote, "Rosemary and I have been enjoying raising our two wonderful children in Atlanta. Our company FishEye Media Productions is doing very well allowing Bob McAllister and I to do the work we love; also a former SCAD grad. We just launched a new website www.notjustformom.com and it is starting to grow in the right direction. All in all things are going well and we're very happy! Hope the same for everyone!"


William Hallisky (M.Arch., 1993) was recently  promoted to company Vice President and leader of design and production of Meridian's New York office. Some of his clients included ClearChannel Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio and World Wrestling Entertainment.


Brenton Hamilton (M.F.A., photography, 1993) is the resident program director and photography department chair for the Maine Photographic Workshops, a large summer workshop program in photography and creative arts. The program has evolved into a college granting degrees in film, photo and writing. Hamilton lives in Rockport, Maine, with his wife, Cristina Arrigoni.

 

Melissa Hamilton (B.F.A., photography, 1993) lives in Chicago, Ill., and is an Italian wine specialist for Chicago Wine Merchants.

Sofia (Hammer) Wetterqvist (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is art director for Wildeco, an advertising agency. Wetterqvist lives in Sweden with her husband, Johan, and their children, Filip (April 2000) and Anton (January 2002).

Jonathan Hankin (B.F.A., illustration and photography, 1993) is co-founder/design director of Upsize Magazine , a unique how-to business publication targeting fast-growing companies in Minnesota. Hankin lives in Minneapolis, Minn., with his wife, Raphael, and their daughter, Zora (October 2003).

Darren Harper (B.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) is the economic development director for the City of Kingsland, Ga. He was instrumental in the establishment of a new historic preservation prestige license tag for the state of Georgia, and recently received a Preservation Achievement Award from the Historic Preservation Division, Georgia Department of Natural Resources for his efforts. Harper worked for two years with the Georgia state historic preservation office and the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, as well as with senator Eric Johnson from Savannah, Ga., and representative Cecily Hill from St. Marys, Ga., to get the tag approved through the state legislature.


Davina Harrison (B.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) lives in St. Louis, Mo., and is a technical services assistant for the St. Louis Art Museum-Richard Memorial Library. 

 

Philip Hart (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Lawrenceville, Ga., with his partner, Rauna, and their children, Christian (September 1989), Augustine (July 1993), Ash (December 1995) and Sophia (August 2004). Hart is a language arts teacher with South Gwinnett High School.

Sara (Hawker) DeCarlo (M.Arch., 1993) wrote, "My husband Micheal, my son Aaron and I spent last fall in Florence, Italy where we traveled and studied as much as we could. We also completed our six-year home renovation and welcomed our second son Alexander to the family this past June."

Scott Hellmann (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is self-employed with Hellmann Design, a company that does freelance design, production and illustration for advertising agencies, and Macnificent, a Mac-only tech support, system consultation service. Hellmann lives in Raleigh, N.C., with his wife, Lisa, and his daughters, Jessica (September 1993) and Alyssa (March 1996).

Mark Helmuth (B.F.A., video, 1993) lives and works in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he is a multimedia training developer with Rockwell Collins, an international avionics and aerospace company.

Robin (Hickman) Copeland (B.F.A., graphic design and illustration, 1993) is a designer for Wells Manufacturing Company, a commercial cooking equipment manufacturer, in Reno, Nev. Copeland creates drawings to be used in the production of the equipment. Copeland had her first child, Dawson Reed Copeland, in September 1999.

Brad Higdon (M.Arch., 1993) is a staff architect with HLM Design in Atlanta. He is married to Kim. 

Sam Hill (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) is manager of digital imaging for Springs Industries, an international textile company. Hill is married to Jennifer Johnson-Hill (B.F.A., illustration, 1994). They recently sold their house in Atlanta and are moving to Charlotte, N.C., for Sam's new job. They are expecting their first child in January 2005.

David Hirner (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is art director for the Landmark Marketing Group, a Mid-Atlantic advertising and publishing company. Hirner lives in Annapolis, Md., with his wife, Holly (Richardson) Hirner (B.F.A., historic preservation, 1993).

Ray Hoffman (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Brooklet, Ga., with his wife, Sherry, and their daughter, Mackenzie (January 2002). Hoffman is a design and production assistant with Georgia Southern University. He wrote, "Sherry and I recently completed construction of a new house in November 2004 and are enjoying our new home immensely. I also recently transferred to the Brooklet Fire Department continuing my career (six years) as a volunteer firefighter."


Bonnie (Horn) St. Denis (B.F.A. fashion, 1993) is self-employed selling antiques, collectibles and fashion accessories online. She lives in Maytown, Penn., with her husband, Rich, and their children, Andrew (1997), Anna (1998) and Alexander (2002).

Brooke Hubbs (B.F.A., fibers, 1993) lives in Columbus, Ohio, and is minister of youth and families for New Life United Methodist Church. She wrote, "This past Advent season I created banners that helped the congregation understand how we as Christians prepare for the coming of the Christ Child.  I also had the opportunity to do several art projects in place of papers while in seminary."

Robert "Scott" Hughes (B.F.A., photography, 1993) wrote, "I just started working for English Communications as a staff photographer! It is a dream come true and the company is the best! God is good! My future's so bright I gotta wear shades!  Jesus rocks!"

David Hughley (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Jacksonville, Fla., with his wife, Quinn, and their children, Madeline (August 1998) and Eliza (January 2004). He is principal of Ruth + Dunavant + Hughley Architects Inc., and wrote, "I have recently completed the designs for a concourse expansion and a new parking deck for the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport which are now under construction. I have also worked on large scale aviation designs for Orlando, Jacksonville and Atlantic City International Airports."

Beth Jacobs Bonsall (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Claymont, Del., with her husband, William, and their daughter, Emma (June 2005). She is a trainer and designer part-time with The Home Depot and also attends graduate school. Bonsall is a certified kitchen designer and certified bath designer through the National Kitchen and Bath Association.


Winnie (Jen) Tomeny (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is graphic designer and market manager for Craig Paul Studio, a portrait and photographic/graphic design studio she runs with her husband, Craig Tomeny (B.F.A., video, 1994). Geoff Kinsey (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) lives in Minneapolis, Minn., and is the art director for MSP Communications, a magazine publisher with several regional and national titles.


Sara Kirsch (B.F.A., photography, 1993) has been living in Italy since 1997. Her partner's name is Tomaso Botti. She is a Photo Archivist for the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. She wrote, "I work on short term contracts at the UN, so when not under contract, I hold photo exhibits of my photography and practice craniosacral therapy as well."

Amporn (Kompipote) Sinlapamethakul (M.F.A., illustration, 1993) has been an art education lecturer at Prince of Songkla University in Thailand but is now in Japan for further study of Japanese art. Sinlapamethakul has a child, Areeya Sinlapamethakul, age four.

Dale Konstanz (M.F.A., painting, 1993) lives in Bangkok, Thailand, where he teaches in an international B.F.A. program.

Brad Kress (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Los Angeles, Calif., and is an architect with Jenkins, Gales & Martinez Inc. Kress is starting his own design firm called RADII Design, which specializes in custom residential design and small-scale commercial, civic and furniture design.

Renee (Maravetz) Powley (B.F.A., painting, 1993) lives in Verona, N.J., with her husband, Jeff. Powley is the register/collections manager for the Montclair Art Museum, where, among other things, she acts as courier for domestic and international loans. Recent courier trips include picking up a James A.M. Whistler painting from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, featured in the "Manet and the Sea" exhibition, as well as a trip to Centre Pompidou, Paris, to pick up several Synchromist works by Morgan Russell for the exhibition "Sons et Lumieres."


Eduardo Marron (B.F.A., video, 1993) is producer and director of Telehit, an independent Spanish music video channel owned by TELEVISA, the largest television network in Latin America. Marron wrote, "The things I learned at SCAD were incredibly helpful, because the video department was well focused in creative and technical knowledge, with excellent teachers and an excellent student atmosphere. I miss SCAD." Marron lives in Mexico City, Mexico.

Herbie Martin (B.F.A., photography, 1993) lives in Palm Bay, Fla., and is founding member and currently the creative/content director for Widemag.com, an Internet magazine (e-zine) publication that "dares to wander and discover the globe." He oversees the research and development of content ideas toward fruition for the Internet publication, assesses many of the artistic needs for the e-zine such as Web design, photography, video and editorial content. Martin writes and edits corporate materials such as marketing collateral, presentations, press releases, newsletters, backgrounds, correspondence and articles. His photography shows include "Faces & Phases," 2000, "Midnight in the Garden of Angels," 2001, "Bikers * Shooters," 2002 and "Somewhere Between the Hands of Time," 2002-03.

Cory Martineau (B.F.A., photography, 1993) wrote, "After college, I joined a cruise ship for a year as a ship's photographer. I met my wife, Lavonda, on one particular cruise and married in 1997, living in Rhode Island and working for a portrait studio. We moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1999 where I managed a small studio within a photo lab. In 2001, we decided Florida wasn't for us and moved back to Rhode Island where I purchased my childhood home from my father. Lavonda and I had our first child, Kyle Emery Martineau, in 2002."

Susan (Monaco) Engelhardt (M.Arch., 1993) is a project architect with the DLR Group, one of the largest firms in the country with offices in over 20 states. Engelhardt is responsible for project management, construction administration, design and construction documents. She lives in Phoenix, Ariz., with her husband, Jason.

Tina Money (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is the senior graphic designer for Merck & Company Inc., a pharmaceutical company. She lives in Parsippany, N.J.

Sarah "Christine" Morgan (M.Arch., 1993) worked for nine years in her major of architecture but is now pursuing graphic design in Christian ministry in Gainesville, Ga.

Alethia (Morris) Canady (M.Arch., 1993) is an intern architect with James W. Buckley & Associates Architects. She lives in Metter, Ga., with her husband, Todd Canady, and their children, Marena Rae (July 1993) and Rachel Ann (September 1996).

Huong "Barbara" (Nguyen) Schryver (B.F.A., video/film, 1993) is a television director for FOX Television - WTVT Channel 13. Schryver is one of only two female directors at her station and the only female Asian director in her market. Schryver lives in Riverview, Fla., with her husband, Steven, and their son, Jordan (December 2001).

Jonathan Nicklow (B.F.A., painting, 1993) lives in Evergreen, Colo., with his wife. Nicklow continues to paint and had work shown at the Core-New Art Space in Denver. Nicklow will be starting a pottery company with his wife called Booty Mountain Arts. He says he misses SCAD and hopes to visit soon.

Scott Nohejl (B.F.A., video, 1993) lives in Savannah, Ga., and is the executive head crew coach for the Savannah College of Art and Design. Nohejl is also taking graduate classes in the media and performing arts department at SCAD.

James Ojamaa (M.Arch., 1993) is self-employed and working as a freelance carpenter in Weaverville, N.C. He works in all phases of carpentry from start to finish on new house construction.

Angela Phelps Schnur (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) and her husband, Rusty Schnur (B.F.A., illustration, 1993), live in Louisville, Ky., and are parents to Bain. They work together as freelance artists with projects including computer illustration, murals, faux finishes, metal sculpture and jewelry.

Jeffrey Poe (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) has his own design and illustration studio called Nevermore Studios. He lives in Durham, N.C., with his wife, Katy, and boxer puppy, Bumpus. Poe wrote that he and Katy recently moved into a spacious new home, where ample studio space mean he won't have to use the kitchen table for paste-ups.

William "Jay" Polk (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) wrote, "After another year in school, I have decided to re-enter the workforce.  I have enjoyed my time back in Savannah, and I have learned quite a bit.  I am ready to go to work in my new field of sound design."

 

Michael Poole (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Glen Allen, Va., with his wife, Nea May Poole, and their children, Helen (August 2000) and Michael (February 2002). He wrote, "My wife and I were married in 1999. That same year we got pregnant, quit our jobs and founded Poole & Poole Architects. Seven years, two children and 20 employees later we have an award-winning practice with projects in over 10 states and more than 2,000 apartment or condominium units under construction."


Gayna (Puryear) Jewett (M.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is national creative designer with Home Depot. She lives in Atlanta, Ga., with her husband, Nathan, and their son, Ian (December 2002).

Mary Carol "M.C." Restifo (M.Arch., 1993) is an architect intern with Hallgren, Restifo & Loop, Registered Architects in Erie, Penn. She is studying for the architecture state boards, and teaches skiing in New York state. She said, "the college years really are awesome and a lot of work!"

Holly (Richardson) Hirner (B.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) lives in Annapolis, Md.with her husband David (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) and is a senior process engineer with Datastream Content Solutions. She also received her master of library science degree in archives, records and information management from the University of Maryland in 2002.

Kimberly Rider-Orazi (B.F.A., interior design, 1993) is the owner of the Rider Design Group Inc., in Baltimore, Md. Through her work, Rider has garnered numerous design awards, including Baltimore Magazine/ASID Best Historic Preservation-1994, ABA Law Journal First Place Historic Preservation, NKBA Merit Award, and the Maryland Historic Preservation Trust Project Award. She wrote, "I have twin daughters, Morgan and Emme, born November 6, 2002. They are the love of my life along with my loving husband, Jake, who is vice president of a bank. Michael Robertson (M.F.A., historic preservation, 1992) lives in North Charleston, S.C., and is a planner III for the Town of Mount Pleasant, S.C. I am currently working as an adjunct instructor for ITT TECH and am working as a substitute teacher for three different local school districts. I am also building my ceramic studio; I create large ceramic vessels that range from 1 foot high to 4ft high and 2ft wide and either raku them or high fire in various earth tone glazes - all of pieces are coiled and then carved then fired...I have two galleries in NEPA that have them for sale."

Judi Sohn (B.F.A., computer art, 1993) is the owner of Mom-At-Home Designs, a home-based business that she runs from Stamford, Conn., that allows her more flexible time to spend with her young child. 

Jen (Spencer) Gallini (M.Arch., 1993) is facilities manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation's central office complex, where she supervises day-to-day operations of buildings and grounds staff. John Stanley (B.F.A., photography, 1993) lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., and wrote, "I have been involved in photography education for teens for several years now, having coordinated SF Camerawork's First Exposures youth mentoring programs for two years. I just moved to New York City and am currently volunteering as a photo teacher to youth in a Lower East Side after-school center. I hope to attend graduate school in photography really soon!"

Meredith Steele (M.F.A., painting, 1993) is the full-time, upper-school visual arts teacher at Cary Academy and is also an adjunct instructor at Meredith College. Steele lives in Cary, N.C., with her husband, Jason.

Kevin Sullen (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) lives in the Atlanta, Ga. area and is an art instructor at several schools, including ACA and the Chattahoochee Academy.

Geoffrey Taylor (M.Arch., 1993), as a member of the Vatican Topography Project, was awarded a three-year collaborative research grant for scholarship in the history of art by the Getty Grant program. Taylor is the research associate for architectural history and digital representation for the project at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. 

Jeanne Taylor (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is running her own graphic design company, Designing Solutions, in Durham, N.C.

Karen Thomison (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) is the communications specialist at the Killeen independent school district, where she and her staff are responsible for publications and all visual materials. Thomison also operates a freelance illustration and graphic design service, serves as art director for the Military Child Educational Coalition, and serves on the board of directors for the Central Texas Ad League. She recently received eight Addy awards and 13 Texas school PR awards. Thomison and her husband, George, live in Killeen, Texas.

Charles Thompson III (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Columbus, Ga., with his partner, Troy. He is vice president and market manager for Archway Broadcasting Group, which owns and operates radio stations in small to medium-sized markets in the Southeast. He is responsible for overseeing the Columbus and LaGrange, Ga., and the Auburn and Opelika, Ala., radio markets.

Keri Tope (M.F.A., interior design, 1993) lives in Decatur, Ga., and is senior associate with Blackdog Studio, an interior design and hospitality firm.

Susan V. Turner (B.F.A., interior design, 1993) is an Interior Designer/Architect Intern with Paul Finch & Associates PC., in Virginia Beach, Va.

Val Valeriano (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) and wife Pia Dina, who was the associate registrar at SCAD, now live in Lawrenceville, Ga., where Valeriano is stationed at Dobbins Airforce Reserve Base as an airframe/avionics technician. Valeriano and Pia Dina are parents to Kris and Ryan.

Ingrid Vanderveldt (M.Arch., 1993) lives in Austin, Texas, and is CEO and president of 212 Studios, an eCustomer Relationship Management (eCRM) company that creates Web-based reporting, intelligent product marketing and personalization applications that drive profitability for businesses with an online sales presence. 

Jason Vincent (B.F.A., computer art, 1993) lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and is art director for Avanti Visual Communications, a postproduction house in West Palm Beach, Fla.   He wrote, "I am finishing my second bachelor's degree through Florida State University's distance learning program - this time in computer science. I also plan on going to graduate school to get a master's degree in computer science. I managed to survive the hurricane season of 2004, both hurricanes Francis and Jeanne went directly over my house here in South Florida. Plus, we got the leftovers of Hurricane Ivan as it looped back over Florida. No major damage, no injuries and I only lost power for about one hour (that was a miracle)!"


Ralph Voltz (B.F.A., illustration, 1991; M.F.A., illustration, 1993) is a freelance illustrator living in Charlotte, N.C.

Nanthalee Wald (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Savannah, Ga., and is a scheduler for Spataneity, a medical spa.

Lindsey Waldrep (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Johnson City, Tenn., and is the national account product manager for Harris Tarkett. Waldrep manages all products that are sold through home-center channels and markets commercial products to interior designers and architects. She wrote, "I use my 10 years of experience (advertising) to direct photography and design some graphics as needed for Home Depot."

Jennifer (Warshawsky) Zigino (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is the project manager for Digital Creators, a multimedia design firm in Boulder, Colo. She lives in Boulder with her husband, Rich Zigrino (B.F.A., computer art, 1994).

Sarah Weeks (B.F.A., graphic design and illustration, 1993) is the creative director and graphic designer for the North Carolina bureau of The Virginian-Pilot, a newspaper serving Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. Weeks wrote, "I brought a saw-milling operation with my father and started a wildly successful new business. We call it Loblolly Custom Sawmilling." She said that her father runs the mill now, but they expect the whole family to be working the mill full-time in a few years. Weeks lives in Elizabeth City, N.C., with her husband, Scott Mathis, their dog, Lucy, and ferret named Max.

Wendy White (B.F.A., fibers, 1993) earned an M.F.A. in fine art from Rutgers University. She lives in New York, N.Y., and works for the David Zwirner art gallery. Awards and recognitions include the 2005 George and Helen Segal Foundation grant for painting; the 2005 Project Room, Wendy Cooper Gallery in Chicago, Ill.; and the 2004 Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation Space Program.

Eric Williams (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) is the owner of EWIllustration.com, his own design firm. He was the first place winner of the 1996 L. Ron Hubbard's Illustrators of the Future contest. He lives in St. Charles, Mo., with his wife, Jessica.

Paige (Williams) Harris (B.F.A., painting, 1993) is director of communications for Episcopal High School, a private school for college-bound students in Jacksonville, Fla. Harris is responsible for the graphic design of all school publications, advertising and public relations. Harris wrote, "I still enjoy my painting and continue to work on commission. I have been married to my husband, John, for four and a half years and we have a new baby, Jack, who is the center of our universe!"

Gerald "Tal" Willis (B.F.A., illustration, 1993) lives in Savannah, Ga., with his wife, Therese. Willis is creative director with Digital Image and Freelance, a large format digital print service with in-house designers. He wrote, "I'm doing portrait paintings and working toward my own exhibition with images from our coastal region."


Chris Wilson (M.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) is a preservation developer. He lives in Dundee, N.Y., with his wife, Wendy, and their children, Bailey (October 1995) and Grace (June 1998).

Laura Lee Wilson Sims (M.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Savannah, Ga., and has her own home-based graphic design business, Compu*Craft. She is mother to Caleb.

Ali Winrich (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is a creative artist for Russell Corporation in the Jerzees Division based in Columbus, Ga. As a creative artist for Jerzees, Winnrich is responsible for the design and execution of garment embellishments, including screenprint and embroidery.

Laura Wood (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) lives in Savannah, Ga., and is a color specialist for Frances Meyer Inc., a stationery, scrapbook and sticker company.


Udo Wooten (B.F.A., graphic design, 1993) is currently living and working in Atlanta, Ga. as a senior graphic designer for Georgia-Pacific.


Rob Yallop (M.F.A., historic preservation, 1993) lives in Ann Arbor, Mich., with his wife, Wendy, and their children, Sidney (October 2001) and Isaac (September 2003). He is a preservation planner for Lord, Aeck & Sargent Architecture Inc., a multidiscipline architecture firm with offices in Ann Arbor, Mich., Atlanta, Ga., and Chapel Hill, N.C.
